Im 27, and my husband has decided he wants to start TTC next cycle which is scheduled to start May 24. Ive been keeping track of my cycles and I should ovulate around June 7, I have a pretty textbook 28 day cycle with 14 day Luteal phase.

However, he got a sperm analysis done and the doctor basically told him hes got a better chance of winning the lotto than he does of having a baby because of low motility and low count.

So Im hoping someone here can help point me in a direction of at home approaches like vitamins, or non prescription medicine. Sorry if you already have a thread somewhere!! Thanks soooo much for any help yall can offer

Sorry for the bad news you got :( Yes, there are things that can be done. First it is important that he stop doing things that can harm sperm, such as drinking alcohol, smoking, hot tubs, anything that raises body temperature a lot (strenuous exercise), laptop on testicles etc.

These supplements are really good:
Maca Root Powder (or they have drops that you can just put in water) Maca is known to boost sperm count by A LOT!
Fertilaid for men
Fertilaid motility boost for men

Keep in mind that it takes 3 months for sperm to build up (speaking of, was he sick or on any medication in the three months before his test?) So these supplements need to be taken daily for a few months to really change things. My dh took fertilaid for men and maca and we did not have him tested before supplements, but when he did get tested he had fantastic, much better than average numbers.
Good luck!!

I put my DH on fertilaid for men as well. He has morphology problems but it is supposed to help the other issues too. I know the makers of fertilaid also make motility and mobility formulas as well.
Have your husband retested in three months after the vitamins take effect.

hi Michelle!! sorry if I dont have the question to your answers, but your dr didnt gave you advices on how to improve the sperm? My advice: get an appointment with a different dr to listen to other comments...
In my case I suffer of PCOS, and I was getting treated by this gynechologyst (sorry, my english is not THAT good), she told me pretty much I was infertile, very hard to get pregnant, sent me to take glucophage, which literally ruined my stomach... so I went to see this other dr. He checked my blood tests, my ultrasounds, everything, and he told me, I do ovulate, and have now 35 cycles each month, besides being young (turning 27 tomorrow), meaning I shouldnt have any problem getting pregnant, and asked me to stop taking glucophage a.s.a.p, and so I did.. I feel better and more relaxed...

To be honest, your story just reminded me of mine, as I didnt like your dr´s expression of the lottery! its delicate news, some drs need to figure out a more sensitive way to tell you and give you hopes!

A second opinion can give you a better view of things, and maybe find a solution!! best of luck, Im sure is not that bad as this dr told you!! :flower:

My doctor gave me the same speech about our chances to get pregnant naturally thanks to my PCOS and DH's morphology result. I almost switched doctors but the next day I had an appointment with the nurse practitioner of the practice and she gave me hope with more options and letting me know if I did go through IUI which the Dr didn't recommend she would be doing it. I have issues with the practice but don't lose hope. I think the Dr of the practice was interested in selling IVF over everything and told us there wasn't any way to fix sperm issues but there is.
Take charge of your fertility and you instruct the Dr on what you want to do. They will listen or you will change Dr's.

Thank you sooooo much ladies! I read on one review of the fertilaid for men to combine it with L Carnitine for motility problems since I for whatever reason can only find the fertilaid, not the motility formula, have any of yall done this? Im ordering The maca-power liquid and some fertilaid now! Cant wait to try it!! :-D And yeah his doctor really didnt give us much info or hope, just said its not gonna happen without intervention. But he goes every 6 months for a SA, so Ill let yall know how it goes, hes due again in about 2 months :)

you´re right! over here, doctors prefer to sell more, than to recommend the best for you! I read on the paper about 2 years ago, that in Ecuador (my country) almost 70% of women, deliver babies by C-section. They investigated, and only 2% of them, had the c-section due an emergency, or because of some physical incapability. Doctors in Ecuador, try to convince you to have a c-section instead of natural, some women are told they have to, because its emergency, when its not. Thats why, being close to a doctor that listens to you, and understands you, and is honest, is important! :)

I don't know if this will help but I've read that drinking pomegranate juice can help. There's plenty of diet tips if you look them up. Can't hurt to try. Good luck.

I agree - I think it would be good to have Doc that would suggest further steps after giving you that info!

That is really bad news. I know that Zinc is a recommended vitamin for men to take. Maybe he could try that?
