Well, hopefully you've talked to your OBGYN about not having a period for the past 7-8 months so you know what is going on with your body. That would concern me if I didn't know why that was happening.
Everyone worries about their baby going to term or not when they get a positive test. It's natural to worry, but if you are pregnant, you need to know so you can make healthy choices for him or her. Not taking a test won't change the fact that you are pregnant if that is the case.
As far as how to test, I personally prefer to pee on the stick. It's less complicated to me. If you have a cheapo test that you bought online, however, I would use a cup just so you don't accidentally get it too wet and end up with an evaporation line (false positive).
