Hey guys - I've been lurking on this board for quite a while but I figure I should finally join ;)

I'm 22, Been married for 1 1/2 and we have been TTC pretty much ever since we met lol ( about 3 years ago), Obviously with no success. I went to a fertility specialist a little over a year ago - He did the dye test where they see if your Fallopian tubes are open, they are. Hubbys sperm is great. And I appear to be ovulating because I have my period pretty regularly (maybe varying in cycle by 3-5 days tops). The doctor did an ultrasound back then too... He said I have uterine polyps but they were tiny and not likely to be causing infertility. He said he didn't think PCOS because my periods come every month....but then he went on to say he didn't think I was ovulating.... huh? lol. I know somethings up with my hormones cause i'm 22, with acne like a 13 year old... I remember him putting me on progesterone for some reason... does anybody know why he would do that?

Anyway... since our insurance no longer covers the specialist, I'm on my own - I have a OBGYN appointment next week but they clearly told me over the phone they don't do fertility.... Does that mean they won't even ultrasound me to see if those polyps have grown or test hormones?

I just ordered Clomid 50mg hoping this will be the answer - I'm gonna take it cycle days 5-9, now I'm just waiting for my period... (figures the one time I want it to show it doesn't)

Wish me luck guys...!

Hi welcome to the weird and wonderful world of BnB. were all friendly :D dont bite often hehe
xx

welcome!!!:)

when you said your ordered clomid ? you don;t have a prescription ?

No prescription, got it shipped from india :-$
Cycle started yesterday (27th)

I contacted my old doctor and he told me he suspected low progesterone as the reason for my infertility... Does anyone know if the Clomid ALONE will fix this problem? I'm also worried because assuming Clomid works and I become pregnant (!!) I'll need to start progesterone almost immediately afterwards to maintain the pregnancy right? Can regular OBGYN's prescribe this or even test my progesterone levels or will I need a specialist? Also, I know they say not to take progesterone prior to ovulation... So should it be taken AT ovulation or right after?

Sorry for the millions of questions, I'm obviously clueless - this is all so confusing to me...

Thanx in advance!!!

I think that you need to talk with your OBGYN. These are things that should be talked to a doctor with. Clomid and Progesterone arent things to be self medicating with. I just wouldnt want anything bad to happen to you or your baby if the clomid works.

My GP or OB is willing to perscribe Clomid and do progesterone shots after ov'ing.

Why did you buy the Clomid online? For me it is only $6 USD. Pretty inexpensive stuff.

6 BUCKS!!! Wow, that is cheap. It cost me about $36/month!

I have amazing insurance so it would probably be no more than $10 for a prescription but I waited months securing this appointment and just couldn't wait any more... you guys know how it is!! lol. I got 40 pills for about $55 with shipping... definitely lost alot of money doing it that way but oh well... I will be careful and I'm starting slowly..! I just hope this new doctor doesn't yell at me.

Hi renee, welcome!
I don't think Clomid alone will fix your low progesterone, it just helps you to ovulate, and if you have low progesterone, it can cause a m/c if you do get pregnant. Like others, I would highly recommend you talk to your new OBGYN first, and since they don't do fertility, ask for a referral.
Clomid can cause hysperstimulation of the ovaries as well, which is not good. That's why it's good to get this medication with a prescription and to be closely monitored by a medical professional.

Lots of luck, hope it all works out!

Thanx chica, I appreciate it... Yea I know about the progesterone, I'm hoping after I have confirmed ovulation I can get an appointment right away to start taking progesterone if I do concieve - But then, I read that the clomid in itself can raise progesterone if there is conception - because really the low progesterone is only a result of anaovulation - So if one ovulates with clomid and concieves, the hormones should steadily rise.. right?

I'm seein a OBGYN next week so hopefully she'll have the answers... I agree what I did was stupid but I didn't jump into it blindly... I reallyyy did my research and I'm aware of all the risks. This is my 3rd day on it & not a single side effect ;)
