Hi ladies - I've posted a couple of times on the clearblue fertility monitor thread but not on here and wanted to share a few details to see if anybody could help.....

I have a 12 year old son and since he was born have not used any contraceptives apart from taking the pill for 2 weeks when i got married in May of this year to prevent my period from coming on my wedding day! In all that time I have not got pregnant. My ex who I was with up until 3 years ago had a problem with ejaculation because of long term type 1 diabetes, however my husband I am married to now has no problems, he is young, healthy and already has a 9 year old daughter from a previous relationship. For over 2 years we have been having regular sex without using contraception and nothing has happened. My periods have been between 27-30 days and every month we have waited to see what happened and every month we feel disappointed. Lately we have tried to make lifestyle changes and have cut down on alchohol. I have just bought a clear blue fertility monitor to see if that makes any difference as I haven't actually charted ovulation before now, and already I am getting obsessed!

I have also taken the step of booking myself in at the doctors on Monday - I am not sure what she will say or even how to go about explaining what has been going on but I feel so sad and desperate that it is never going to happen and the clock is ticking (I'm nearly 34)......can anybody please give me some advice or tell me what happened when they went to the doctors...

Thanks in advance

With your first appt. they will probably do some blood tests and just make sure your body is doing everything it's suppose to. If all comes back fine they may refer you to a gynocologist which will do more indept tests and perhaps suggest some fertility medications - such as clomid.

Wishing you lot of luck at the Dr's...:hugs:

MrsClegg,

I'm here just to give you a bit of a hope, if that's ok.

I've had 2 m/c in the past, got pregnant fairly easily (I can see that now!) with both of them. After that my body went into the hault! We tried and tried. We used OPKs, I charted or did nothing at all..nothing was helping. We went to our GP, had all the testing done after about 1,5 years I've had lap & dye test, everything was ok, but still no one could tell us why it was not happening! Then, I've even tried Clomid for 2 months and then we went on holiday and I didn't take it, I had enough of it all! It's been 3,5 years by then of TTC. I'm not saying to you to go on holiday.. We don't know how and why it happened and we'll never know why it hasn't happened for 27 months! (It is still very early and we pray this one stays).

I'm exactly your age, 34 very soon. I guess all I'm trying to tell you is do not doubt the fact that you can and will get pregnant. You also have a living proof of it! I absolutely understand your fears, frustration, everything!! It's the hardest thing to live in uncertainty.

I just want to send you lots and lots of hugs and fill you with hope and belief!

It's really hard when you can't get pregnant easily. You've made the right choice going to the doctor, though. NeyNey is right; it will probably start with blood tests and maybe also a SA for your husband. They may also want to do a scan of your ovaries and uterus. There are a number of additional tests that can be done afterwards.

I have a diagnosis of PCOS and irregular cycles, so your experience will probably be different from mine, but I really hope that this appointment will get you your :bfp:!
