I had my baby girl on November 22nd was due February 5th. I had h1n1 and fluid in my lungs. She was off oxygen and everything within 72 hours. She was 3.3 at birth and is over 5 lbs now. She just has to bottle feed.

My vent is though I'm still in the hospital too and have only seen her twice and couldn't hold her. Everyone else who has been here has. I'm trying not to think about it but it makes me sad some days. Anyone else been through something like this? How can I cope not seeing/holding her?

Congratulations! So sorry her birth was so early and that you were so sick.

I can't even begin to imagine not being able to see or hold her for so long a time! Is it because you are in different hospitals or are they just making sure you don't pass the virus to her?

Congratulations :hugs:

Try not worry or stress too much it's a tough situation at moment you have a prem baby that shouldn't be born yet they probably don't want you to spread the flu also your baby will be in special care unit? So infection wise and her health needs to be stable you not said much were she is..

I had a baby at 28 week he was 2lb 12 oz at birth but was very ill I didn't hold him for a month and it was heartbreaking but trust me when your stable and baby is stable you will able to have as many cuddles kisses alone time as you like..

Ask you husband to get you a picture they normally give you one at hospital anyway and just cherish that photo cos your time will come. Remember she needs a healthy mummy so rest and get better also give your baby something small with your smell/scent on it to put in her incubator/cot ? she'll smell you and feel close.:flower:

Also I'm so glad your baby is doing well if no other problems then once she can feed shel be home roughly the time of here due date...

:hugs::hugs:

I'm no longer sick. I have a bacteria tho so I can't hold her in my room. I'm still relearning how to walk with a bad knee so me going to her is hard. But I'm trying to go to her I just have to gown up to hold her. Soon tho I'll be in a rehab center farther away from her. I have pictures but man n this is hard. I'm also missing my 2 year old.

I came across this post while searching H1N1 and pregnancy...
Congratulations one your little one! Hope everything is going well for you both, and you have recovered significantly :)

Right now I am worrying about getting the flu while pregnant. I started tamiflu today because my 7 year old tested positive for H1N1 this morning - she's been sleeping with me since she got sick 3 nights ago (she was having difficulty breathing due to the fluid in her chest, so I held her to make sure she kept breathing!)
Her pediatrician advised me to contact my obgyn, who was concerned and she called in the medicine for me to start right away. I just wanted to see how long you had the flu, how quickly it progressed, and really anything else you could share, if you don't mind.
Thanks in advance!

I don't know how long I had it, after I had Lainee I was in a coma for a month. I was on tamiflu while asleep tho. I dumped 2 liters of fluid from one lung. Had chest tubes to continue dumping fluid out.

I'm so sorry.
It was crazy how quickly it progressed with my 7 year old.
I woke up sick this morning, but so far it's just the cough, not in my chest. I have been on tamiflu 2 full days so far and will take it again in a couple of hours. My doctor wanted to see me if I developed any symptoms, so I'm sure I'll get more info soon.
Thanks for responding
