New to bbt charting...did i start too late?

my period started on friday which i know is the day i was supposed to start charting but it came unexpectedly and i figured that i would start the next day but didn't have my thermometer with me.So i woke up at 7am today(CD3) and took my temp before i did anything else.it was 97.9...

you're not too late at all. i usually didn't start temping until after af was over because temps can fluctuate a lot during your period. you should be fine. good luck!
