hi all,
i'm new to this site, and after reading some of the threads, i'd like to share my story in ttc...

me and my husband have been ttc for nearly 2 years now. he's had his sperm tested about 4/5 times, and it's ok. i on the other hand, am not. after having a HSG i was told it looks like my tubes are blocked, so i had a laparoscopy, and i was told one tube is blocked, the other one is open, but it's so damaged due to the force that was used to push the dye through, that there's a high risk of ectopic. add to this that i'm not ovulating AND got endometrisis! they lasered off the endo they could see, but told me it will come back every month as it's retrogade endo (blood from period going back up the tubes)

anyway, so we've been told to stop drinking/smoking (i don't smoke anyway, husband does), and in 3 months time we're back at the gynao to tell them we've stopped this and then get on the waiting list for ivf, which, in the uk, is 1 year.

gynao won't give me clomid because of the high risk of ectopic, but do you think i should fight this, as it may not be? i was told being given clomid would be a 'waste' on me!!! after that i've been annoyed! how dare they say it's a waste? can't we try and it may not be ectopic??

i've been looking into taking agnus castus and dong quai as these are herbal ways to induce ovulation, but not sure if it's a good idea.

what do you think we should do? just sit and wait for ivf or fight for our right to try clomid, after all, it IS MY BODY.

thanks everyone.
oh, we're in our 20's if you need to know.

Wanted to say hi  and sorry for all you are having to go through!
I'm not really an experienced on any of these so can't really help. I am shocked that your tube was damaged coz of the dye. I have to have a lap to investigate my fibroids and don't know yet whether they will do the dye thing yet as well.

Hi there

i also have endo, mine is grade 4 very severe. Can i ask you how did they know you have retrogade endo????? To my knowledge there is only theories how endo grows and spreads and where it comes from? So im a bit confused.

Also, depending on your endo and severity clomid might not be advisable. As definately endo grows due to estrogen levels and clomid increases estrogen levels. Which definately make ur endo worse. Im sorry u have this, blocked tube and your ovulating issues. Its so frustrating but what i would say is most important is your endo being under control. U let that grow it causes alot of problems to the rest of your fertility. Hope i havnt scared you. Sending you positive vibes ur endo is nothing like mine and ur like majority of mild cases.

Welcome! :hi: Sorry your process has been so difficult. I don't know if I'd push for the Clomid, but that's me. If you aren't worried about the risks of an ectopic (most likely leading to surgery), then go for it!

Hi
I think it's really mean they won't give u clomid as the think it's a waste I don't think it's a costly drug. I had an ectopic which has left me with a closed tube and one that is compromised by adhesions yet they have just given me another 4 months of clomid even though I am high risk of another ectopic. If u want clomid push for it x I do t think it will work for me my next step is a lap op to cut away the adhesions something I had to ask for it that fails it's ivf prvate as I have one child. Good luck to u on ur journey x

My sister had two ectopics, and she nearly died with her second. She had to have several blood transfusions and her whole stomach turned black for months from internal bleeding. It was so horrific to see my sister that way...nearly dead, tubes coming out of her from everywhere and her not even aware that I was there. I am sure it is cases like hers that make DR's fear when they KNOW there is a huge risk. My sister now can only wish someone had told her of the risks...as she now can no longer have children (they removed both tubes, one ovary and her uterus). I would wait hon. Listen to your DR's hon. I know it is frustrating to wait.

hi, the dr told me that it was retrogade when he told me my results after the op. he explained how people get endo, and told me mine was retrogade. i think if you ask you dr he or she will have them in their notes and can tell you which one yours is.

the thing is, i don't feel pain like what others feel, in fact i have barely any pain. the only reason i knew for myself i had endo, even before it was diagnosed was because sometimes it hurt during sex so we'd have to change positions. my periods are irregular too, ranging from 32-40 days, although the 40 day cycle has only happened once. it's mostly now 32-33 days, which is ok, but i don't ovulate either.

hope this has helped you and thank you for replying to my post!

no way, i can't believe they've given you another 4 months worth of clomid if you're in a high risk group too!

they mustn't think you're in too much of a high risk do they? either that or they're not too worried about it. that's really strange because why aren't i being given it if you are, yet we're both in the same high risk group? i shall ask my dr about that, thanks for telling me!

I don't know how much of a risk I am but theydid say if I did get pregnant the would have to watch me very carefully. I think I am high risk because I have had one ectopic they also told me you can still get an ectopic with ivf something I did't know x
