Hey everyone!
Well me and the hubby are offically TTC:happydance: should I start taking folic acid now? Or wait untill i find out that im pregnant?
Thanks :)

Start now. You may look into taking a prenatal to make sure you're getting the recommended dose.

Congrats on the ttc journey!

Definitely take it now as it takes a while to build up in bloodstream, as you only find out your pregnant 4-6 weeks later....so best to give baby folic acid ASAP even before you know you are pregnant....

i'm take my Perfectil tablets, doc said it was fine as it didnt have vitamin A in it which is bad for baby in high doses, and had folic acid which i needed (its skin.hair and nails formula but got 5000mg of folic acid in it...)

I guess there is no "right" answer. My doctor told me as long as I take a womens multi vitamin daily I didn't need to do the prenatal vitamin. He said too much of a good thing can also be harmful. So I'm just eating healthy and doing the one a day (which still brings folic acid).

GL to all of you :)

Thanks :) Yeah i was wondering about the multi vitamin. Would I be ok just taking folic acid and just eating healthy? or is the multi a must?

I have been curious about that same thing. I take a multi-vitamin right now. Is there anything else I should be taking? Anything that would help with fertility?

I'm taking a multivitamin, a B50 complex (both have 100% of the recommended amount of folic acid), and 40mg agnus castus (vitex) daily. The B50 complex and vitex I started taking for my luteal phase because it was too short. My multivitamin only has 50% of the recommended amount of vitamin A, so it should be if I am pregnant for a few weeks and don't find out. As soon as I found out though, I would switch to a prenatal..
