So today I had my prenatal appointment, heard the heartbeat and it was at around 145 bpm and I was told that was good, but then when the nurse was about to hand me my appointment sheet for my 20 wk scan there was a sticky note on it that said "no sex, no heavy lifting, let patient know" and at first the nurse said she wasn't sure why, but found that I have placenta previa (according to my 13 wk scan), so my placenta is too close to my cervix, or over it. That freaked me out. And now I'm worried that it won't move away, although I've heard it usually does.

Then she told me they had to look at my cervix with some sort of microscope because my pap smear had abnormal cells and that it was a viral infection that could turn cancerous. So I spent at least 20 minutes waiting for the OB to come in and explain further. I was freaking out. He did the procedure and said things like this usually correct themselves after birth and not to worry. But it really didn't stop me from worrying

So I came home, took a nap, woke up, and did my daily ritual of rubbing that Palmer's cocoa butter lotion on my belly (which, in the last week has grown enormously) and I felt a gap between my abdominal muscles. I had read about it but wasn't expecting it until later. And it was the creepiest thing to feel. When I felt it, I squealed "eeewww!" and my OH was in the living room with his Dad trying to guess what it was. Lol.

Other than that, the baby has been dancing around in there starting a few days ago. It's the strangest feeling. I usually just lay there and enjoy it until it stops.

Sorry this was so long but my OH gets annoyed hearing my "pregnancy complaints". That's why I love this place so much<3

Hi, My boss had placenta previa and it did correct itself so it can happen!!, just laying off the nookies and lost of rest ;)

Are they doing anything about the smear before baby is born? If you have abnormal cells that don't correct themselves after pregnancy they can be removed pretty easily so don't panic about that, i know easy for me to say, I get smears every 6 months and mammograms I also get a full body scan once a year due to some nasty genes the women in my family happen to carry around with them. So i kinda know how you feel. Also being up the duff doesn't go hand in hand with the not worrying but you get to put moments of mindless scaryness down to hormones and have a giggle about it afterwards :D

Hope you feel better :hugs:

Try not to worry hun :hugs:

You have had the advice on the cells, but there is another girl on here who has had the abdomen muscles divide, so I am sure she will help with that.

Good Luck hun & try not to worry! x

ugh, that really sucks hearing it all at the same time.
just follow all the advice you were given and the placenta will probably move.
keep us posted!

Hi hun,

Hope you are ok. Just to let you know my muscles in my tummy split in half, and it looks like a bum-it happened when I was pregnant with my first daughter Rebecca, what made it weirder is I was always slim (25-26 inch waist) but I went huge when pregnant lol

All I can say is dont worry, as I admitt I was the veinest person ever when I was younger, but now I look at my saggy, split tummy, and look at my two daughters and know it has been worth every minute-tho sometimes I wouldnt mind a tummy tuck! You can get physiotherapy for it when you have had LO- apparently my midwive said I had a 5 finger gap and she could fit a fist in my gap when I was 6 months pg! Cheeky woman!

Please feel free to PM me if u need any advice etc.

take care xxx

I had an abnormal pap smear right before I fount out I was pregnant. They scheduled me for the same procedure but said they wouldnt do a biopsy because I was pregnant, and just would re-do pap smear 6 months later. I just had my repeat and the pap smear was normal. I wonder if the cervix changes when your pregnant, Im not a doctor but like others have said its a good thing they caught it early, and it could turn out to be nothing! I know how your feelings its a very scary thing. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you :hugs:

My stomach muscles are coming apart in the middle too. Very strange feeling!! Also I think your placenta tents to grow upwards usually as your uterus does so it should be sitting at the top back wall of your uterus in the end. Try not to worry. It's quite common.

Well I have a gap in my stomach muscles too which you can see because there is a very slight dip going down the middle but I can't really stick my fingers into it because it's too hard, just a little softer than where my muscles are which is rock hard. Try not to worry, it's not very noticable.
