Hi girls!

I'm new here to the forum, but I've read around a bit and I love the support system here. Hopefully, I can become a part of it. :)

Just a little background info on me...

Hubby and I have been TTC for over 2 years now. Hubby is perfect, but I'm not, lol. I've never had normal periods, sometimes I had went months without one. I have PCOS and was on Metformin for a while, but I loathed it. It made me feel awful, so I stopped. I got on BC to regulate my periods and it worked beautifully. Fast forward to just a couple years ago and hubby and I started TTC. I actually got pregnant last year but, unfortunately, it ended in m/c at 7 weeks in November 09.

Since then, my OB has started me on Clomid. On my 1st round with 50mg, I only got one follie to 16mm, so I didn't get my hcg injection. 2nd round with 100mg showed a 19mm follie on CD21, so my OB decided to give me my injection. Well, it didn't work. :( I'm now on my 3rd round of 100mg clomid (my OB decided not to up it to 150mg just yet) and I go in for my CD14 u/s tomorrow.

Very nervous and anxious, hoping for good news tomorrow! Anybody else close in cycle days as me?

Hi. Didn't want to read and run.. I am only on my 1st round of Clomid, CD25 and not having any ultra sounds sadly. Had my blood test today though, so hoping for confirmation of OV on Monday...

We too have been trying for approx. 2 years with a mmc in Feb 09 and nothing since. We have unexplained infertility (the result I was dreading the most)!

I had 3 lots of bloods before Clomid was prescribed; 1st time I OV'd on my own but the next 2 times showed only border line results and so the FS said let's assume you don't OV and try you on Clomid!? I am hoping for a miracle.

Let me know how you get on with your u/s. Fingers x'ed and baby dust - sounds like you could use some luck this time around. X

Hi Hopes! :) Thanks for the response and support. I'll be sure to keep y'all updated on my progress.

I wonder why my OB hasn't done any blood testing to see if I've O'd..? Maybe that's something an RE would monitor more closely. Hmm.

I wish you lots of luck and baby dust, as well! Please keep me updated on how you're doing. :)

Hello:flower:
Sorry about your loss. :hugs: I am scheduled to start my 3rd round of Clomid as soon as AF arrives, which should be tomorrow. I am also getting bloods, no scans. It is great to come on here and find support especially when going through the Clomid Crazies! There is a thread on here called "Clomid Virgin With A Question", not sure if you checked it out yet but please come join. I have found so much support from these ladies. Good luck with this cycle!:flower:

Hi Amb, I am also on my 3rd cycle of clomid CD16 today so only a couple of days in front of you! im having difficulties in knowing when/if ive ovulated!
how did your u/s go?

Heya Hopeful and Firefox! Thanks for the support. :)

Well, my u/s didn't go so hot yesterday. They found only one follie on my left and it's only 11mm. Blah. They're starting to think that I may just be an extremely late ovulator, seeing as last month my follie didn't reach 19mm til my CD21. So, I'm down, but not out. :)

I'm going in tomorrow for another u/s and also Tuesday for another. I guess they'll just keep watching this follie until it's ready. I'm just so bummed because I'm always seeing women talk about multiple follies that they get and I can only seem to get one.

Firefox, are you doing the hcg injections or do you ovulate by yourself? Apparently, I don't ovulate on my own, so the injection does it for me. I just have to get a good follie first.

Good luck on this cycle, you guys! Maybe 3rd time will be a charm for us. :)

Just wanted to update on how my u/s was this morning. I was pleasantly surprised, actually. Still only one follie, but it jumped up to 16mm! That may not sound like a lot to you guys, but that's a big deal for me, lol. Especially this early in my cycle.

So, I go in for another u/s on Tuesday and, hopefully, it'll be big enough to trigger. :) fingers crossed!

Hubby and I are headed out to go enjoy this beautiful weekend and go fishing and relax, I'm feeling really good after today. :) Hope you ladies have an awesome rest of the weekend and I'll be sure to update Tuesday!

Hey thats brill news, sounds like you are going to be able to trigger yey! Sorry Im not 100% sure what that means but think its when you get an injection to help you ovulate? Did they not try you on 100mg without the trigger first? Will follow this thread to see how you get on....fingers crossed!!

Im not on hcg injections, im just on the 100mg clomid. The only monitoring i have is a blood test. The first two cycles at 50mg it couldnt be proven that i had ovulated so they upped my dose this month. I got my first ever positive opks on CD16&17 this cycle and think i may have ovulated on CD17 maybe today (CD18) at a push! Im really hopeful anyway!

Ive got two blood tests this month, one on CD21 and one 7 days after ov which i think will be CD24 now, nightmare is that falls on a sat and they only do blood tests mon-fri...typical!!!!

clomid club and may clomid buddies are great threads for clomid questions and support!! i am on my fourth round of clomid with progesterone monitoring only. Oing basically as we speak!!

Sarlar, thanks for the thread suggestions, I'll be sure to check them out!

Firefox, my OB monitored me when we first started trying to get pregnant without any help from meds and I never O'd by myself, so she wanted to give me an hcg injection (trigger shot) when I get a mature follicle. That way I know that I'm ovulating. Problem is, it's been hard for me to get a mature follie to even trigger. I lucked up last month and got a follie at 19mm, but it was very late in my cycle (CD21) and my OB almost didn't trigger me, but did anyway just to see. Obviously, it didn't work. But, hopefully, this follie I have now will be even bigger than last months. Fingers crossed!

I go in for an u/s in the morning, I'll come let y'all know how it went. Wish me luck! :)

Well, I got good news and bad news at my appt this morning. :( Bad news is, my follie didn't get any bigger since Sunday, it's still at 16mm. My OB seems to think that Clomid just isn't working for me, since I haven't really been able to get a good, mature follicle in the 3 rounds that I've taken. Good news is, she's sending me on to see a Fertility Specialist. I was bummed at first, but at least now I can go see someone that actually specializes in the area. My OB can only do so much. I was just hoping the Clomid would work for me and I wouldn't have to go this far. But, I just have to keep moving forward. I go to see my FS next Thursday. I sure hope the rest of you ladies have more luck with Clomid than me!

Really sorry to hear that, i hope you get somewhere with the FS, keep us posted on how you get on!

I might be in a similar situation to you but will never know as i dont get scans, only a blood test to see if ive ovulated - not sure how accurate that is!?. I think you are better off knowing and hopefully you can get some other medication to make you ovulate.

Best wishes to you, let us kno how you get on x

Hi ladies.

Amb, sorry that the clomid hasn't worked but it's great news that you will see a FS very soon. I really hope you get a good one who can help you straight away. Please keep us updated.

I am going to copy and paste from another thread what has happened to me this last 24 hours, apologies if anyone has read it before but I wondered if it may be of interest, to Firefox, especially:

I got the results from my CD 25 bloods today and my progesterone level was 2. I can scarcely believe it – I have had 3 previous tests on non medicated cycles, where the lowest result has been 24 (borderline). I always knew I may not conceive on my 1st cycle with clomid but I never imagined I wouldn’t ovulate. I am devastated.

The FS’s co-ordinator advised upping the dosage to 100mg next cycle but I have questions and I don’t know where to go for answers?! Am I taking clomid on the wrong days for me (2-6)? Is there an additional problem with my progesterone levels; should I perhaps be given a trigger (I have heard lots of ladies talk about this, OK, I don’t really know what it means but I am sure there is something amiss with my progesterone levels) and the wonderful NHS couldn’t care less to find out exactly what is happening. Could this be why I miscarried before?

I just phoned a local private clinic and asked if they do cycle monitoring for people on clomid, which they do; charging £135 per scan – I would need 3. The ironic thing is that if I go private, I see the main Dr from the NHS fertility department.

Today I rang the private clinic back with further questions and I had a very interesting conversation with someone - I admit I don't know her exact job title and I’m fairly sure she wasn’t a Dr but she did seem very knowledgeable and answered my questions happily. In short, she said there are lots of myths surrounding infertility and basically, if you ovulate; it will be mid way through your cycle. She also said that unless treating patients with IVF, they never use progesterone supplements, as the body will produce the correct amount of progesterone after ovulation. They only use it with IVF as it is a forced cycle. She was adamant on these points.

If I am to believe her, then I simply didn’t ov this cycle - 50mg of clomid just wasn’t enough. I now wonder if my body starts to produce follicles but they either don’t mature, or don’t release the egg as they are supposed to? It could explain the pos OPK I guess?

Sorry it's so long! Hopes. X :dust:

Hi Hopes

What were your highest progesterone results on non medicated cycles? It does seem really strange that your progesterone would get worse on clomid, im not sure why? Could there be a problem with the test!? Did you go for your blood test on what you believed to be 7DPO this cycle?

I take the clomid on CD2-6, from others posts starting on either CD3 or CD5 seem to be the norm. I notice you are based in hampshire, i am too so am wondering if it varies by county?

It is absolutely scandellous charging £135 per scan!! I have too heard from friends who have recently been succesful at IVF that the treatment they received privately was in an NHS hospital by the same NHS doctor...because they didnt meet the criteria for free IVF on the NHS (neither of them were 30 yet!!) it seems crazy.

From what ive read the NHS only seems to prescribe clomid which is really worrying if it doesnt work!! i think there are other tests that they can do too but not sure about if there is any other treatment? Have you had tests prior to clomid?

Ive read about others being refused progesterone supplements even when having multiple miscarriages which is awful, im not sure that this is something readily available in this country, it seems people in the USA are prescribed it if they have a problem.

From what ive been told about the trigger i gather its an injection given to a follicle when they are large enough (not sure how big) to try to ensure ovulation in that particular cycle...again its no guarantee of ov.

What CD are you now? Are you going to start taking the 100mg clomid soon?

I went for my CD21 blood today, am going for my 7DPO bloods on Fri (even tho it will only be 6DPO) am hoping for decent progesterone levels this cycle and a decent length luteal phase, prob too much to ask for but fingers crossed!!!

Hi FF.

I can't remember my highest progesterone score but I think it was above 40. I am determined to get all the scores and dates when I next talk to the FS though. I too think it's really strange that it has plummeted on clomid. I had my test CD 25 after a positive CB OPK CD18. I am starting to think that my body gets geared up to o but the folllicles either don't mature enough or don't release the egg as they should do. I just read on another thread that a lady who has follicle tracking has been told she will o within 24 hours and then she doesn't. I think scans are the way forward for me, whatever the cost and will have another chat with OH to that effect this evening! :winkwink:

I think you are right about the dates for clomid varying from area to area - it seems like such a gamble to me though; what if the Dr's in my area (Basingstoke) are wrong!?

And don't get me started on the criteria - I have already been told I will not be eligible for assistance as I am already 34. I actually asked for a copy of the criteria and so I have seen it for myself, in black and white. :nope:

Interesting that you have CD21 bloods and then again at 7DPO. Rightly so too, I think it is very difficult to determine what is happening with just 1 test. I wish you luck.

I am waiting for the bitch to get me and will then decide if I am going for tracking this cycle. I was thinking I'd wait one more cycle but I then realised it will clash with my holiday and so I don't think I will wait. If I am going for it I will phone the private clinic to book my scans on CD1 and ask them what days they usually advise to start clomid. I am sure it will be the same, (CD2-6) as the Dr is the same but I will feel happier for checking. And even if I do go private, I will still be taking my NHS blood test - I think it's the least they can do!

X

Hey hopes, let me know how you get on with the scans, have you decided to have them?

How come you are not eligible at 34 that seems crazy?

We have been tring to concieve for just over 2 years now. I am currently on cd27 of my 3rd round of clomid. I ovulated on cd15..and I can really feel af coming :o( i did an early hpt on cd26 and it was neg

I am also doing accupuncuture and this time is the first time myprogesterone was 72 on cd20.

I really dont know what is wrong is evrything was fine and it still didnt work. I have one more round before i have my meeting with the consultant. I asked what would be the next step if it still didnt work and the lady scanning said they may do insemination...which i really dont want.

I hate all this ....its so depressing...
