Newbie; Ovulating: Need quick advice!

My boyfriend and I are self-inseminating. My hunny is being deployed in 7 months (could be sooner) and we want to conceive before he leaves. I've been off birth control for 3 years, and I am young, healthy and until recently, was unstressed. Although I understand this is not a quick process, I am currently ovulating (today is day 2) and don't want to miss the month at trying.

Saturday/Sunday are my peak fertile days, but I've got today, Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun & Mon. Last night I inserted using a syringe and did my best at laying down for 30 min. In fact, I fell asleep during these 30 min and didn't get up for 6 more hours. Sorry for the TMI, but this morning I had an initial leak situation and am worried that I've screwed up the process. Can someone with success or experience please share initial info and advice towards the questions below (and more!)?

1. Even if fluid leaks out, this could just be seminal fluid and the sperm could have successfully made it, correct?
2. What is the best insertion tool? I've been using a syringe
3. Should the sample sit before inserting it?
4. How long should I lay down for. Any exact position?
5. Should I be climaxing while the sample is pooling to help my cervix open? I've been inserting right after intercourse, about 5 min after I climax in hopes that it is still open enough, but now I'm reading that the sample should sit for an hour or two? If so, should I climax upon insertion to help the process?
6. Not that I prefer one gender over the other, I'm happy to just be blessed with a healthy babe, but I'm just curious about gender rumors. Is it true that the earlier in ovulation, the higher chance of a girl? And vice-versa for a boy?

can't answer all but

1. fluid will leak out, that's ok and the need sperm can still reach the egg

4. The fs told me to lay flat on my back with a pillow under my butt
5. A orgasm doesn't have to happen. Some have said that when it does happen the contractions cause it to pick up more sperm
6. there is no 100% sure fire way to choose the sex but it's believe that the sperm with the female gene swim faster and reach the egg sooner and by wait it gives the male sperm time to catch up

I'm not a dr. this is just what my fs has told us. hope this is helpful

1. Some semen will always leak out this is normal.
2. The best insertion tool is a plastic syringe (either 5 ml or 10 ml) with a plunger.
3. The sample should only sit long enough to liquify. Dependent on your partners semen this generally takes between as little as 5 mins to as long as 30 mins.
4. You should lay with your hips elevated. 3 or 4 pillows or cushions underneath your bum making sure your in a comfortable position prior to insemination.
5. Climaxing after insemination is actually recommended and is said to cause a "dipping motion" where the cervix will contract for up to, believe it or not, 30 mins after climax, thus dripping into the semen and aiding the sperm to make their journey to your egg.
6. In any event boys swim faster than girl sperms but their lifespan is much shorter whereas girls swim slow but their lifespan is greater. It is said that your chances of conceiving a girl are significantly increased if insemination or intercourse is taken place around 5 days prior to ovulation. This is simply because more off the girl sperm will still be alive, whereas the boy sperm will be dying of or dead. So it goes without saying that your chances of conceiving a boy would be increased if you were to inseminate or have intercourse as ovulation is about to happen because the first sperms arriving at your egg would be the fast boys.
