Newbie pumping questions

So my first baby is due in 2 weeks, and my midwife suggested that if I start pumping for about 15 mins a day, it may encourage my baby to come a bit earlier and it will also train my nipple to stick out more which will be helpful for breastfeeding.

I tried it for the first time today with a manual pump, and only a few drops of colostrum came out...so my first question is, do I really have to go through the entire cleaning (handwash/dishwash) process right now? I completely understand why the pump should be thoroughly cleaned when I'm collecting milk to feed my baby, but since I'm not doing that right now, could I get away with just rinsing it out each time? Could I get an infection if it's not properly cleaned? (I really don't know how any of this works, lol)

Secondly, I'm debating whether I'll need to buy a smaller flange...the manual explains that you'll need a smaller size if "excess areola" is pulled into the tunnel, but I'm not too sure how much counts as "excess". Some areola was being pulled in, and while it didn't really hurt, there was a slightly uncomfortable feeling. It's been about 20 minutes since I've pumped and my nipple still feels tender, but it doesn't look irritated...is that just normal pumping sensation, or does this mean I need a smaller size?

Thanks! I know these questions are pretty random but Google hasn't been terribly helpful this time ;P

Provided your not keeping the colostrum you’ll be fine to just rinse it out each time then before you use it for actually feeding baby give it a good hot wash and sterilise it and you’ll be good to go!

As for the smaller flange I’m not much help there I’m afraid!
