Newborn or not?

In your opinion how long is a baby considered a newborn? I have read lots of things. 1 month, 3 months , 40 days... What is right? I feel like this is an opinion kinda thing

I thought it was 6 weeks, then they are an infant?

I was thinking the same thing and then I went and try to find a definite answer and I couldn't. Guess we may never know for sure lol

40 days sounds a bit of a random age! I'm sure it's an opinion thing but I'd say a month.

I think it's the first month as a newborn, then they're an infant until they're 1

I think about 6 weeks - but I think it's more of an appearance thing really. Sam just straightened out and started being more awake and less like a curled up sleepy little frog (ah my wee frog! ) at about 6 weeks.

Just googled - the neonatal period (newborn) is the first 28 days.

The fourth trimestre theory might be where the bigger numbers are comin from, as kitten-b said, they seem to magically transform around the 6 week mark.
