Hello everyone! Well my daughter is a week old now and although she is soo much easier than my son was and is a very good sleeper, I am worried about how long it takes her to feed. It takes her about an hour to finish a 4 ounce bottle which seems like an extremely long time to me! Is this normal or if this happened to you what did you do? We use playtex drop ins with the slow nipple, tried medium flow nipple but was obviously too fast for her. Any advice? Thank you!

Does she seem to go at a faster rate to begin with? It may be that 4 oz is a bit too much for her and she is just eating because it is there. My 4 month old only drinks 2 ounces at a time. You might try just two oz and see how she does.

No she is still hungry after 2 ounces. Most feeds she takes 3-4 ounces and will go a very long time in between feeds. (lucky me) she was almost 10lbs at birth so I'm pretty sure that's why she can eat so much.

Is she like dozing off while she's eating off and on? That's what my lo used to do and we'd just have to give the bottle a very gentle wiggle and she'd start sucking again. When she stops sucking, give her a few seconds to take a break and catch her breath well, but then just remind her that the nipple is there and that should help.

My son used to take an hour to drink 3 ounces!, he has slowly gotten faster and we can now do 5 ounces in about 30 minutes. He likes a little break in between (yay!), we have just put him on number 2 teats too as he has comfort milk so it is thicker, but as he is getting bigger he is getting faster (he was 10lbs 7 at birth so i always assumed he would gussle his milk but no he takes his sweet time, not so fun at night ;-)
