Hi just been diagnosed with PCOS on my ovary (had one removed 2 years ago due to large cyst) anyway im really upset and just wanted to know about anyone else with this and what has happend? what treatment do you get? and is it likely that i will ever get to have a baby?

Doc has ordered cd21 blood tests and blood tests for when im on my period she said to check hormone levels to see if im ovulating and depending on results she will be reffering me to a fertility specialist. I have regular 28 day periods she said this was a good sign and she is also checking my OH :spermy: but she suspects he is ok.

Any advice from anyone is so much appreciated :hugs:

PCOS is not a diagnosis of infertility, remember that. It just means that you might have a more difficult time conceiving. This however really depends on you and the symptoms you exhibit, since PCOS is a syndrome and not all women who have it will have exactly the same symptoms. PCOS is caused by a number of genes and depending on how they interact will determine what it means for you.

My mother has PCOS. She has 3 kids, all conceived without assistance. She was diagnosed as a teenager and when she saw the doctor at her yearly physical and pap, she mentioned that they were trying TTC for me (her eldest). The doctor told her she'd probably need help and tried to give her some clomid as she was coming up on a year. She declined and two cycles later, I showed up on a pregnancy test. My sister followed two years later and then my brother, three years after my sister.

vestirse thank you so much its so good to here stories of where ppl have managed to get pregnant, i dont know a lot about it so its all just been a little overwhelming today xxx

I hope this will not hinder your journey too much. It can pose difficulties - you'll want to make sure you ovulate as your doctor says, but PCOS doesn't have to mean anything at all in terms of negatively affecting your fertility :) Your normal periods are a good sign, by the way.

I have PCOS but i think my PCOS may be more severe than yours! One time i even went 2 years without a period untill i fell pregnant with my angel! I have only ever had 3 regular cycles and that was after giving birth last year! I do here of many success stories though...take my story for example..i got pregnant without having a period for 2 years...so i must have ovulated on the off chance and caught it!
Ive heard accupuncture is good for helping PCOS! But havign 28 day regular cycles is deffinately a good thing!

I was diagnosed with PCOS at 14 and I definitely have annoying hormonal imbalances. Didn't get my period until a couple months after I turned 17 and only had it for about 9 or 10 months straight. I haven't had a period since April 2007. I got married in November of 2007 and we've been trying ever since. I know couples have tried longer, it just seems like it's been forever and no good news for us, ya know?

When I was diagnosed with PCOS, the doctor said it would be extremely hard for me to conceive, making it nearly impossible unless I had help with pills or shots. That was kind of a let down, because I've always been a family girl. The doctor scheduled an ultra sound and I also have fibroid tumors. Big mess.

So, recently my husband and I have been looking into different methods that might help us. We wanted to start out simple, so we figured maybe we'd go with a pill first. We've been reading up on FertilAid for men and women and so far, we think that's what we're going to try first. If anything, it might help bring back my period and regulate it. (Heard anything good/bad about FertilAid?)

Anyway, sorry for my random babble. Lol. I know how much a pain PCOS can be and has been. So I really do hope a blessing happens for you soon! Good things come to those who wait!

I have PCOS and have had very irregular periods over the years and been quite unwell, but there are things you can do to help yourself, a healthy diet helps me no end, fatty foods, caffiene etc seem to make it worse as well as not getting a good nights sleep. Like Vertise said everyone is different though but there is a great website called SoulCysters that is dedicated to PCOS which may help you understand more x
