Newly pregnant, help me with online shops!

As title please..UK shops..I only really know about mothercare and mamas and papas..plus other bits you can get on Amazon/Ikea. What other sites do you guys use to buy or browse baby items? I'm particuarly after any shops that do nice soft toys too.Thanks xx

Depends what sort of stuff you are after?

Mothercare and M&P stuff is lovely but, in my opinion, is waaaaay overpriced for what it is.

For furniture, prams, mattresses, car seats and bulkier, bigger items, I would highly recommend Kiddicare. They have great offers and prices and usually have good discounts to take advantage of.

Amazon are great as well for most things and you can generally find what you want on there considerably cheaper than the RRP. I have bought sheets and toys and things from there but they are good for most things.

For clothing, I absolutely adore Next and have spent a small fortune in there, but is somewhat pricey (though cheaper than Mothercare and nicer things). I also love Marks and Spencer baby clothes. If you have a budget (and let's face it, who doesn't?) both Asda and Tesco do baby clothes very cheaply (I absolutely love Asda stuff) and Matalan do lovely things, too.

Don't think you need to spend an absolute fortune on buying things from the expensive shops that specialise in baby products. I had to buy everything on quite a strict budget and have managed to get everything we need relatively cheaply (well, not cheap - I've still spent God knows how many hundreds of pounds, but you know what I mean) and have still got a selection of beautiful quality things.

Of, for nice soft toys, I am slightly (okay, very) addicted to Jellycats.

I started collecting them years ago and now have about 70.

Just Jellycat has a brilliant selection where you can buy online, but you might want to check out eBay, too. They can be somewhat expensive but they're collectors items and are so beautifully made and gorgeous to look at and touch. They have a special range of baby ones that rattle or squeak or that you can attach to the cot or pram that pull and play music. Also, they do gorgeous fabric books that are fun and touchy feely.

Jojo Maman Bebe also have a lovely range of cuddly toys (I think some of them are Jellycat, too).

Oh and thanks a lot for reminding me about kiddiecare, I must have surfed my way onto that site before as I saw some lovely soft toys I liked (joules ones, the frog, dog and some other creature that are wearing wooley jumpers !) yet I never got round to ordering them. Then I forgot where I'd seen them until now. ordered now.x

Laura offered most of the ones I was going to say but there's also Toys R Us and Smyths too..They do a baby section..Oh and Boots too! Lots of the supermarkets do baby events every now & then especially Asda.
I've always found Asda great for clothes, they fit and last really well and are quite cheap!

I love Toys R us because you can find a good variety of toys but there are plenty of shops onthe web where probably you can find good deals too

Mamas and Papas also have some factory outlets. We got our nursery set from the one in Huddersfield.

I have found that some of the smaller boutiques actually have lower prices than some of the larger stores. I've ordered a couple of times from twinkle twinkle baby boutique (its local to me but they have a website) and always found their prices (especially in the sale!) really reasonable

I usually use ebay or amazon if i want good quality, most of the times the people who have bought the products themselves have written reviews, so that's a massive help.
