Hi all!

I'm sort of new here, I've lingered for a few years and always end up here looking for answers or chatting about experiences..

Last night my partner and I decided we want children, naturally we are nervous.. I am not going to go the extent of tracking ovulation and temps, but I have always tracked my periods so I have a rough idea of when to try.. At the moment we are having unprotected sex and just seeing what happens.. I know we are both prepared for either outcome.. We are happy :)

Does anyone out there ovulate practically straight after their period?? I know you would have a short cycle. My cycle is generally a normal 28 days but I did stop taking the oral pill a few months ago and I think I'm ovulating after my period now.. Anyone have some input on that??

Also open to any advice for our situation!! I have never had children so I don't know what to expect.. Well I do, but you all know what I mean. :)

Thanks guys! Xx

For most women, the length of time between ovulation (when an egg is released from the ovary) and their monthly period is between 12 to 16 days. During the time of ovulation, an egg is available to be fertilized for only about 12-24 hours. But since sperm can live in the body for 3-5 days and then the egg is available for one day, your most fertile time is considered to be about 5-7 days. So start DTD around the time of ovulation !!!

Your body will send you a memo when it’s ovulating, in the form of a twinge of pain or a series of cramps in your lower abdominal area. You can use OPK for better prediction as well start charting your BBT. Your BBT will reach its lowest point at ovulation and then rise immediately and dramatically (about a half a degree) as soon as ovulation occurs. However, you need to practice charting few months, before you get hand on it to understand accurate pattern.

Hope I helped. Good luck!!

Thanks for that! I was just wondering if other women experienced it as quickly as I feel like I am. I don't think I'll go that far in to tracking my ovulation.. My partner and I arent going to try too hard just yet :)

I may have issues having children so I'm just taking it slow. :)

Hi MissMara! I'm sorta in the same boat, except I just went off the pill so I don't know what to expect. I'm so used to my periods that were like clockwork, Idk how I will know when to test... Maybe my body is just messed up from the pill.

Have fun not trying. ;)

Hey Future momma :)

I came off the pill and to my surprise my periods practically stayed the same!! Have you had a period yet??

My partner and I started trying just last week, I keep thinking things will happen immediately but I'm trying so hard not to get.My hopes up.. I have a specialist appt to see why I keep having ovarian cysts in the new year so hopefully before then I have a bun in the oven!! Hhaha..

I need advice :( I vomited on my way to work this morning out of the random! Though, my partner and I just started last week! Could this be a.symptom maybe??
