NHS Clomid cycles...monitoring?

Hello,

I'm in need of some advice. I have been given Clomid 50mg for 3 cycles and then 100mg for 3 cycles with my next appointment after all of this....so my next appointment is in August.

I am on CD17 and no ovulation so the 50mg hasn't worked. I was told to go for a CD21 blood test to check for ovulation.

I know that some people are given ultrasounds and check ups throughout their time on Clomid but didn't know if this was just a private healthcare thing or if NHS patients had experience of this.

I really want to know what's going on inside there...my plan is to try and persuade my GP to allow me to up to 100mg next cycle. It was a hospital referral doctor who prescribed me Clomid in the first place so I'm worried that he will tell me to stick with the 50mg next cycle despite it not working.

Is there any history of 50mg working second cycle when it failed first cycle?

Sorry for all the questions....

I guess my main question is...Should I be demanding/requesting monitoring during my Clomid cycles on the NHS?

I'm in East Sussex if that helps anyone...

I had NHS treatment with Clomid and only had day 21 tests to check it wasn't working. As soon as we realized 50mg wasn't working I was sent another prescription so I could double up to 100 but do the same amount of months. I don't think 50m will start working, I think it either does or doesn't, although I'm not 100% on that. 100mg definitely worked though...I'm 6 months pregnant!

Congratulations :) I'm going to push for 100mg for next cycle. :)

I don't think the NHS do any monitoring aside from the CD21 blood test, which is slightly annoying. I was prescribed 50mg, which made me ovulate but I failed to fall pregnant.

After 10 months on Clomid, I was referred for IVF. I'm now 25 weeks along with a baby boy, after my second attempt.

Good luck x

I had nhs treatment.

I started on 50mg and ovulated. I was told to ring and book a follie scan for a day between cd11 and cd13. The first month I ovulated perfectly on day 14 after seeing a big follicle on the scan a few days before

Cycle 2 50mg they saw no follicle growing on day 13, I waited until cd35 then took progesterone

Cycle 3 100mg. CD13 scan showed no follies growing. I kept charting and taking opks and got my opk+ and temp rise showing ovulation on day 31. This became my lg :)

I read on a private clinics website they would bring you in once a week until cd 35 but when I asked for another scan in cycle 3 they said they only did one per cycle

UPDATE: I went back to hospital and they said that doctor was covering for another and had treated me poorly.

I now am on 100mg and have follicle tracking every other cycle (2 scans leading up to ovualtion and one after to check ovulation occurred).

So NHS do offer follicle tracking scans!
