NHS Refferal Times

Hi Ladies,

I was just wondering if anyone could give me an idea on the waiting times to actually start treatment on the NHS?

We have our next appt with the fs on the 30th March, and if my BMI is below 30 then we are being reffered onto the treatment waiting list! Everything has moved very quickly so far, we had our GP finally reffer us in December, first fs appt on the 30th Dec, and i've had a hsg, and hubby another sa. So I'm preparing myself for a very long wait, as it seems things are moving along a little too quickly!

Sorry for the ramble, I think paranoia is getting the better of me! I've managed to convince myself we'll be waiting for 18mths, I don't even know where I got that time from!

depends on where you live- postcode lottery and all!. Were in edinburgh wait for NHS IVF is 3 years, not sure abiut IUI. If we self fund on the NHS I think IVF can be a 6 month wait. Weve gor our 2nd FS appointmnet on Monday- so will hopefully see what the next step would be for us x. But if we need asisitance we may go completely privatley

for us it's 3 months waiting list! thats at ninewells acu dundee. but they serve a WIDE area, and our area (the western isles scotland) is a 3 month wait, but for fife area, it's atleat 18 months! so it really is a postcode lottery! we only get one try i am lead to believe. though that hasn't been confirmed.

the best way to find out is to contact the business manager of the clinic you are going to, that is what i did.

For us we had our last FS appointment on the 17th Nov where they recommended IVF, had repeat bloods one for HIV and Hep then referral went off on 20th Dec. Our IVF seminar was 3/3, first appointment with consultant 13/3 to start treatment march or april. But I really think it depends on your area and th clinic you chose. All the best x
