I have a night feed question (that other people have asked, but I wanted replies specific to my situation)

Ryley goes to bed @ 10pm with a bottle (5-6 oz) She may wake up a couple of times through the night but we'll just put her dummy in and she goes back to sleep. BUT one of those time after putting her soother in she spits it out 2 minutes later and does the "feed me" cry and the soother or snuggling doesn't get her back to sleep. So we give her a bottle and she'll drink 4-5oz and she goes back to sleep. There's no particular time she does this. Last night was 2am and the night before was 4am and the night before that was 3am.

She then will wake up between 6-7am.

So what do I do to get rid of that feed? Or should I even try? I'm open to anything.

i dont know hun, maybe gradually reduce it or try giving her water incase she just wants the comort?? sorry if thats not much help x

Hi hun!
I don't know if this is still okay to do, as so many things changed since I had my son...

I was told by my doctor that a baby didn't need a feed through the night once they hit around 6 months old (unless ill or a preemie) and at around 8 months I didn't know how to help with it. My doctor said one way is to give them some water at night, and eventually most babies won't wake for the food as they realize they just get crummy water LOL and the cry method (or controlled crying) Where you let baby cry for a while until they fall back to sleep. I did this one with my son. It was hard ,and I felt so bad lol but within 3 nights he didn't wake for that bottle anymore. The first night was around 15 minutes, second around 10 and third only 5 minutes! I didn't go into the room and sit with him or anything. I would check and make sure he was okay, walk out and I had to sit outside because I felt terrible. I could still hear him so I knew he was okay though.
Controlled crying is when you sit with them with your hand on them or something and let them cry. This seems to be the new thing to do :) You sit with them so they know you are there and not leaving them all alone or what have you, and let them cry it out. I friend of mine did this with her 5 month old to help him learn to fall asleep on his own for naps and it worked within a week. I would talk to your doctor though, he/she might have other options or these things might not be what they think is right for you and your baby :)
