Was anyone told this by their doc?

My doc said theres no point doing just clomid, and he would go straight to IUI, because ultrasounds and bloodtests show I ovulate...

I dunno, I feel like clomid is a miracle drug... and I just wanna have my baby 'the natural way'. I guess the transition between feeling like a healthy, normal person to someone who needs treatment can be difficult...

hey hun i have not tried either yet but from recent events it might be on the cards. Personally i would do the iui if you already O as sometimes clomid can interfere with O. You might get other suggestions but really hun do what feels right for you :)

Hey - I ov'd on my own but always had spotting before my AF so my FS said to try the clomid to see if it helps the spotting. She said if it didn't help after 3 cycles then stop it and it didn't help but I took it for a 4th cycle anyway and got pregnant. So personally I think the clomid was a miracle drug for me as TTC for nearly 4years without a hint of a BFP.

I ovulate every month... Never had a problem there and I am currently on my second round of clomid! My doc says it can help??

Clomid's no miracle drug-I took it 6 months and no results. Maybe your dr wants to not waste your time. BUT if you're not in a hurry give it a shot!

Clomid is NOT a miracle drug. I did get my bfp on it but it was on my 8th round (7th ovulatory) and I'd taken a break after the first 3 rounds... when I first started it I think put way too high of expectations on it, and I couldn't handle it not "working". The fact is, Clomid is supposed to help you ovulate, so it was working. It can't get you pregnant.

I've heard of women who already ovulate using Clomid, but often it's women with lower progesterone and/or "weak" ovulation. If your doctor doesn't feel like you have a weak ovulation, and you have regular cycles, then I wouldn't bother with it. But before I would go with IUI I would definitely get an HSG to check my tubes first!

I ov on my own and we haven't conceived bc of male factor problems. my doc hasn't recommended clomid either which I'm ok with bc I'm just not a fan of taking medications and such, but that's just me. Anyway I just did a totally natural IUI. My doc says we should try a few times natural and then if that still doesn't work then we'll talk meds. I get the sense that most people do medicated IUI. It can certainly increase your chances because you usually will produce more eggs. The risks for someone who has a healthy ovulation already are multiple births, hyperstimulation, and I think it can thin your lining over time too.

We have been diagnosed as unexplained but have been prescribed clomid for 4 months. I'm onto my third cycle so no miracle for us yet! I had no problems with O'ing on my own or progesterone levels. But past two months on clomid I have been spotting on day 26 until af arrives on day 28/29. We are trying the clomid just to give a shot but have no expectation that it will work. We are gonna do an iui in the new year.

We were originally diagnosed as unexplained, I ovulate on my own but I have spotting before my period. I did 3 rounds of IUI with clomid did get pregnant and lost it super early...turns out I had bad endometriosis. I don't think it would be bad to try it a few times. It does help you ovulate, but also helps have stronger ovulations, and helps if you have luteal phase problems. I know how hard it is to think that you can't have a baby the good old fashioned way - but I think there are many routes to being a mother, and I guess some of us have to go these other ways. I am sure it will happen for you soon. Good luck!

Hey well I've just had a lap and dye done on Thursday and fs didn't find anything wrong....I have slightly low progesterone although my fs thinks I ovulate on my own....he has given me 3 months worth of clomide at 50mg to act as an ovulation booster ;-) so I am currently on day 2 of tablet taking ;-) fingers crossed things might start looking up ;-)...:happydance:

hi girls i ovulate on my own but am currently on my second cycle of clomid. my doc has given me this as we have been ttc nearly 4yrs. he recently gave me surgery to remove extensive adhesions. im on cycle 3 since my op so im presumin my doc has given me the clomid to make me produce a nice good eggie :-))
xxxxc

my FS refused to give me clomid, he said it wasn't suitable if you already ovulate
amazing the differences between doctors!
Good luck everyone

Im on clomid yet i ovulate i think it was as a last resort x

Clomid is a miracle drug for some people but I have done 11 cycles with no baby. I was irregular before but conceived my daughter two months after my period!! I'm extremely late now so there is a possibility I'm pregnant had one neg HPT but had a false neg w my daughter. IUI is still pretty natural it just gives the sperm a boost If hubby might have weak swimmers. My husband was told he has high count but weak swimmers when he had an accident down there on a job several years ago so we r considering talking to my doc about it in a few months.

Clomid wasn't a miracle drug for me, in fact it totally failed to work at all even at the highest dose, no ovulation at all. I'm confused as to why you would want it as there are no issues regarding ovulation for you, some doctors do give it out regardless imo I think its just given out sometimes to try something rather than nothing iykwim. Put it this way you wouldn't take flu tablets if you didn't have flu, or a headache tablet if you didn't have a headache so why would you take something to make you ovulate if you already ovulate. It is a really harsh drug and some of the side effects are really not nice for some people, If I were you I would go for the iui providing an hsg is clear and be thankful that the doc has been honest enough to not waste your time/money on giving you something to make or try to make your body do what its already doing. Best of luck xx

I guess IUI might be the way forward then. Thank you girls :)

Clomid can help you produce more eggs (when taken at start of cycle) which gives sperm more targets to hit :) And if its taken later on in cycle (days 5-9) it can make you produce a better quality egg so if you ovulate already then clomid can still help - it helped me :)
