I had a emcs 20montha ago. I still have no feeling around the scar. The only way i can describe it is - imagine having pins and needles and touching where it is- your aware your touching it but cant really feel it. Anyone have this??? I know 3 women that had sections around the same time as me and they are all fine and can feel eveything. My only difference to them was that i had a wound infection and some of the wound was re-opened to heal naturally.
I hate being touched all around the scar area, it makes me very aggitated, also if a little presure is aplied to the scar i get very sharp pains there.
Me and oh are trying for baby #2 i would love a natural birth this time as um so terrifed if having a bad experience again with the section. However i was told i have a small birth canal and that was reason for not being able to give birth last time, but our son had quite a big head so this could of been the reason. So confused of what to do this time round.

Any suggestions and similiar stories welcome, would be great to talk to some women with same experiences. xx

mine is still the same so no need to worry and my c sect was 13 months ago :) just wanted to reassure you and its not unusual! xxx

I had mine 24 months ago and dtill have a few numb patches. sometime more than others. Ill be having another in 5 weeks so i know to expect numbness for up to 3 years i reckon. the nerves need to heal...but they sometimes never fully do, depends on the damage

I had my section may 09 and I still have a small patch above my scar that still feels 'numb' x

I had an emergency c section and still have no feeling or a weird feeling around the scar, I thought as it has been a while then maybe its not going to change ? I avoid touching it as its so weird !!!

Mine is still the same after almost 9 years! I had it with my first and it made the second c-section so much easier b/c I couldn't feel the surgical area after the next c-section. I hate the feeling too, but you get use to it.

I am only 3 1/2 weeks in but am completely numb and the top of my scar. A friend of mine had a section 3 years ago and her's is still numb too.

I had my last section in 2004, its been nearly eight years now, most of the numbness has gone but there is still some there. I noticed that as time passed the numbness slowly got better. I am going to have a fourth section now in just under 6 weeks, not looking forward to it, I guess all the numbness is going to come back.

When i had my first section and got this numbness, I found it very odd because no one had told me that the area around the scar gets numb. a lady who had a section which was on the same ward as me told me that she had the same numbness as well. I did find it odd that no-one had warned me of this.

Hopefully with time your numbness will improve but I don't think it ever gets back to normal xxx

I had my last csection in May of 2009 and still have numbness issues.

I always assumed it was okay or normal since the nerves are cut during the process.

It's really weird I'll admit!

Mine is only 9 months old, but I can feel everything on the right side, but nothing on the left. I hate to be touched there. i hate my scar.

mine is still quite numb aswell and i had my c-sections 11 and 9 years ago xx

the csect causes 'trauma' to the nerve endings around the area. over time most will heal but this may take years and in some cases a few nerves may not recover. it has been 4yrs since my last and i only really have numbness around the scar but it is more i can feel but if i pinch with my nails i cant feel the pain. Because you had an extra 'trauma' with the infection n reopening of the wound it will effect the healing process of the nerves and may delay it longer

Mine still pretty numb just above my scar too, and i had my section about a month ago, so id say with the amount of comments here, nope its nothing to be worried about :D

It's normal, I still can't feel my scar area four years later!

x o x o

I had csection and I still have no feeling on my stomach I was quite worried at the time but I then did some research and found out its totally normal and that the feeling can come back at one point or it can stay numb for a very long time x
