Hi all,

As the title suggests I feel like I'm living a nightmare.....

We went for a gender scan last week and the sonographer pointed out the low amniotic fluid and said I should contact my early pregnancy unit immediately. I was booked in the next day for an ultrasound with consultant who said the fluids had dropped even more but more worryingly he couldn't find any kidneys or a bladder.
I have an appointment at a referral hospital on Monday and I feel sick. I'm expecting the worse but part of me is holding onto the hope they might of been wrong or my little girl is just late developing them.

Has anyone had any experience of this? I'm 17 weeks today and frightened.

I have no experience in this but lots in worrying. So all I can offer are big hugs and lots of prayers.

Thank you HBGirl,

Unfortunately the nightmare has come true and we will be terminating the pregnancy starting tomorrow. Words cannot describe my sadness.

Wish you a healthy pregnancy xxx

I am beyond sorry and so sad for you and your family. I will add you to my prayers and hope your heart can heal soon.

I go for my cvs tomorrow and I am petrified to be in your position. This shouldn't happen to anyone. It is not fair.

I will be thinking of you. Please pm me anytime you need to talk.

Poppy im so sorry you are having to go through this . My heart goes out to you and will be thincking of you tommorrow xx

I'm so sorry... we had a similar situation last year. We found out at our gender scan that we had mmc'd and that there was no fluid. We opted out of an autopsy, but it's probably that there was a problem with kidney or bladder development. Around 15 weeks, the baby starts making its own fluid, which is why the fluid levels were fine beforehand. Because lo couldn't make the fluid, we lost the pregnancy due to anhydromnios. I am sorry...all I can offer you is this: we got pregnant again the very first month we started trying and the problem hasn't recurred. It isn't genetic, but we were high risk due to it. My doc said it's quite rare, also.

I am so sorry to read this, it is truely a nightmare. I had to terminate my much wanted and longed for baby earlier this year and it hurts everyday. Im so sorry u are having to go through this. My heart goes out to u xxx
