I will be 14 weeks tomorrow. Before I got pregnant I was running 4-7 miles everyday, and eating healthy. I know they say if your used to running you can continue to do so through pregnancy but I am so clumsy I wouldnt dare to run while pregnant plus I live in the desert and It getting hot! So I stopped running once I found out i was pregnant, and walked, did 2 to 3 miles on the elliptical, or did small workouts with 8 pound dumbbells. Ive been taking it extremely easy to what I'm used to, and just in the first few weeks in my first trimester I already gained around 7 pounds, then a few weeks later I gained about 5 more, and have pretty much stayed there for the past few weeks for a total of around 12 pounds in just my 1st trimester. The past 2 weeks my tummy has even been starting to stick out, and all my clothes are getting too tight. I haven't been eating as healthy because my health food was making me sick. So what I'm asking is, if I start to eat very healthy, no more fast food, sweets, etc.. is it possible to not gain anymore, or much more weight for the remainder of my pregnancy? I just feel like I may be gaining too much weight

Your body gains what it needs, and if you are eating food that is unhealthy (high calorie) you will gain more and faster. It's not realistic to not gain anymore, or very little weight from now until the end of your pregnancy, baby still has a lot of growing and developing to do. You should hopefully start to feel better soon and then get back to eating better and exercising. I was more active pre pregnancy, I am trying to stay active, but there are still some days where I just can't....just too tired

Gee! I wish I had that issue! I have the opposite problem. I've lost weight. Either way, I was about 10lbs to heavy in the first place. So, it could be that I didn't need it. If you were a but underweight, or fit, then you may need that extra weight ya know? My sister gained like 60lbs! Which is a lot, but she was a tiny tiny thing. She weighed 100lbs so she needed it, and lost it all plus some in about two months! So, eat when you're hungry. Eat the best you can, and worry about losing weight once you get there :)

I'll be 25 weeks tomorrow and still haven't gained anything! I've had a complicated pregnancy and have no fluid though, I'm sure I'd weigh just a tad more if I did have fluid but dr hasn't said anything about my weight. I gained 50 lbs with dd and was miserable and developed preeclampsia, so I tried to eat healthy and have a healthier pregnancy, didn't help though :/

Hi Hun I am 22 weeks tomorrow and still -6 pound from pre pregnancy weight x

You may be able to hold it off over the second tri but certainly not the third. Baby, placenta, fluid, extra blood, growing breasts adds weight. I put on a massive amount last time so am being much more careful with what I eat. It worked in that by 17 weeks I had only put on 1lb but since then I've gained another 6lb!! My hunger has increased a lot but I'm only eating a little more not enough to be putting on almost 2lb a week! (All on my ass it seems too)

i'm 14 weeks and I've not gained weight. I've perhaps maybe lost 2 lbs since i got pregs. But I have PCOS so I have a very slow metabolism (actually professionally tested) and I think the pregnancy actually balanced out my hormones and sped up my metabolism!! So I'm eating a ton but not gaining. This is how everyone else lives and it's amazing!

It's hard accepting weight gain. There are things you can do to minimize unhealthy weight gain by eating healthy and staying active. I try to do both (haven't cut out all sweets though) and am struggling to stay within the normal range of weight gain.

If you can stay within a healthy weight gain for your and your baby, that's the ideal. I've come to accept that whatever extra weight I gain will mean more post-baby miles to cover to get back to a healthy weight.

I've put on about a stone in weight already :-/ I don't really weigh myself as don't own a set of scales but was shocked when registering at a new doctors and they weighed me I've put on so much. I haven't been eating perfectly, but I haven't been over eating either. Guess I should cut back on the ice cream a bit though lol. My weight always seems to fluctuate a bit though but don't forget you've got extra fluids, weight of baby, placenta etc so not all wright gain is necessarily actual weight on your body

I've only managed to gain 2 pounds through first tri, I'm classified as underweight so although with MS I was trying really hard to get the calories in. Your body will gain what it needs so I try to remind myself of that too. I was told today by my chiro that even though I'm smaller framed I'll still gain weight throughout the pregnancy because most of it is liquid - placenta, breasts, fluids and the baby itself holds weight too.
