Noone likes our name! Would it put you off?

Hi Ladies,

At the mo, we're team yellow but hoping to find out if bump is blue or pink on Friday.

If bump is pink, me and hubby really love the name Camilla but everyone I mention it to wrinkles their nose as if they've smelt something offensive!

Would this put you off and what do you think of Camilla - Cami for short x x x

I don't think it's that bad hun! At the end of the day it's what YOU and HUBBY really love that counts- People can be so unhelpful! This is why we have decided not to tell anyone the name we choose for this baby (boy!) as there will always be someone who doesn't like it. If it's the name you love then go for it I say! x

I love it actually, everyone hated both our names (ds who is Justice and DD who is ELizabeth). My mum actually said she would never call out the name Justice in the street but we said well dont then and went with them, everyone will come to love it in the end

This is the reason we never discuss our names with anyone Cannot be bothered with the raised eyebrows or the "but that's the name I was going to use.."

I love Camilla, it's my cousin's name and she is Milla for short.

Learnt from when LO was born not to tell anyone this time round, the faces family and friends pull - so insensitive!!!! So we're not telling anyone.

If everybody liked the same names the world would be a boring place!

I think its a gorgeous name - and balls to what small minded peoples opinion is/are.

It's an adorable name!!!!!!!! They will come around. Years ago when we told my mom that we wanted to name our DD1 Ashlynn, she said "oh well we'll just call her Anna instead amongst us". I had to put my feet down and it caused quite a bit of arguments but then Ashlynn arrived and noone ever questioned that it was her name..it fitted all the way and my family completely forgot their dislike by now since they adore her!!
Those who need to come around, will come around, trust me! simply bc they'll love your daughter. Those who don't...well maybe you don't need people like that in your life who are unable to accept that it's your child and you'll name it the way you like. People will always find something "wrong" in your parenting style, disciplining style, etc, etc etc..it's good to put your feet down early on and showing them it's your child, also by using the name you absolutely love..if you're determined to do what you want to do, you'll have a lot less trouble getting your family and friends accept your decisions about parenting, schools, etc. later on. Bugger em'! Camille is a lovely and unique name - my best friend called her daughter Elvis - which admittedly at the time did stop me in my tracks for a second or two when she told me...however that is her name and it really works! She's a gorgeous girl named Elvis
Anyway, my point is people obviously reacted fairly strongly to that name and not in the most positive way unfortunately...don't let them dissuade you- you're not naming THEIR baby so they can just butt out!

People aren't fond of the name we have picked if our baby is a boy. It made me start doubting the name we had chosen But I need to suck it up and believe in it! After all, it is MY child lol

I think people might wrinkle their noses because of Camilla Parker-Bowles .. She's not really that liked as a public figure! I don't think it's to do with the name itself! xx

I think that's probably why, as well...


I really like the name Camilla -- i think it's very pretty -- and love Cami! One of my best friends is Kamia, and i often call her "Kam"


Personally, though, i think i would be a bit pursuaded if everyone hated my name choice... I often said i didn't care that my mom hated most of my name choices... but secretly i wanted her to like the name i chose! (And i ended up switching at the last minute to another name on my list... one i knew my mom liked too!)
