Not impressed...

I'm sure some of you have read my long, whingy posts over the last few weeks about whether or not we should go to Norway to see about IVF

Well, DH decided yesterday he wants to go for it and told me to get an appointment ASAP. 'Woohoo!!' I thought . Now after being told on various occasions that there is no waiting lists by the doctor answering my emails, I emailed today to arrange an appointment, expecting I would be seen in a few weeks.

To my extreme disappointment, the closest appointment we were offered was 7 weeks away!! Now 7 weeks may not seem long in the scheme of things, but why advertise no waiting list when there clearly is one

I emailed them back asking what had happened to 'no waiting list' as they advertise. I'm just waiting on a response to that one

I'm a bit disappointed with them now......

Maybe there's no waiting list for the treatment itself once you've been for your consultation??

i did get that impression? maybe they are over run with consultations following all the good press?

So, I've been offered an appointment in 3 weeks after questioning their waiting list!! The bad news is that we can't get flights to get us there

We'd end up being there for about 4 days if we take the appointment (due to flights) which means we'd have to use up holidays that we need for the treatment itself. Have explained this and asked if they can suggest anything sooner. If not we'll have to take the one in 7 weeks

Just waiting on the next response about that one. They're going to be sick of me before I even meet them

Good luck Mrs R ... hopefully you can get your appointment and flights to coincide properly. Why don't you send them a flight timetable and ask them to get you an appointment ASAP that coincides well with the flights? That way, you're not goin backwards and forwards chopping and changing ...

You might find they suggest appt's later (ie in 7 weeks) in light of knowing people need to travel, book flights, accomidations etc
