Hi ladies! I'm new here to this particular board - I just gave birth to my beautiful baby boy on the 7th (he's one week and four days old today) I had one big blood clot come out while in the hospital and was told it was normal, but then the bleeding has been lightening up every day since then. I've had some small clots coming out today (I've been a bit more active than usual the past two days) but just now I had a 4-5 inch long clot come out that was also pretty wide, maybe a half inch. Is that normal this long after delivery? Should I contact my doctor?

I think that is normal I had loads of huge blood clots all come at once all over hospital room floor on day 2 *yuk*. I was told if they were as big as a dinner plate come back into hospital anything smaller is normal.

It depends on the doctor, my doctor said anything larger than a golf ball to go in. In doubt, call ur doctor.

I had this, my notes said I had jagged membranes or something like that. I had something that was really long that I had to pull out (sorry tmi) and after that was out my recovery felt alot better. I double checked with my midwife though but noone ever actually checked me they just said it sounded normal

Have you been especially active the last day or 2? I've noticed an increase in bleeding and/or clots when I over-do it. My doctor also says that anything larger than an egg is cause for calling in. If you're worried about it I'd call just to ease your mind. :)

With my first I couldn't stand up straight, I went to the toilet and a huge clot just dropped out, the size of my babies head...he had a big head haha
I felt great for 20 seconds and I was hunched over again, the next was smaller thankfully.
They aren't pleasent but normal
