So before I moved back home OH bought me a kitten  we thought it was a girl but turns out it's a boy lol. Anyway we lived in a flat hiiiiiiiiigh up in the sky so he was always meant to be a house cat. But when I moved back home I wanted to let him out cos we live in the country and it's sooo pretty but the first time he was introduced to my home cats (they were mine but they're basically my Mum's now cos her two passed away ) they tried to kill him :( (slight exageration maybe but you know what I mean.. very vicious little *******s!!)

Okay so home cats = a girl who is mummy to the other girl (even though her baby is WELL bigger than her now) so she's obviously feeling protective and whatnot.

It's been ok up until now because my room is massive and not attached to the house so he's just been kept as a house cat (with the occasional walk on his little lead heehee) but now me and mum are gonna be moving into a flat and until I get my own place they're gonna have to live together

How can I stop them fighting? I'm gonna have him done soon anyway (both the girls are done already) so maybe that might help cos he'll be less.. manly :haha: but I'm terrified cos he's still a small cat you know and because they are like country outdoor cats they catch and eat rabbits and stuff and are like MEGA HARD, so I'm scared they'll hurt my little furrbaby :( HELLP!! xxxxxxx

awww :hugs: i'm sorry i'm naughty it made me laugh a little.. i can just imagine them being proper gansta, street cats, and your's being a little boy, all scared, and they intimidate him for his lunch moneyy ;) ahh i'm sadd!!
ermmm i have no ideaaaa, i'm sorryyy!!
xxxx

im sure it will be fien, when i lived with my mum, we bought one cat molly and she was litterally moddycoddled, so when we bought my cat fudge they hated each other, but eventually they leanrt to live with eachother, even if they dont sociallise, they will stya out of eachothers way, just try not to feed them in the same place lol that was my mistake xx

Aww poor little man! Umm, i'd say getting him done would probably help a little. Otherwise, just the fact that you are moving to a completely new place, and the original cats havent got their scent all over it, they are less likely to be territorial over the place. They still may not like each other, but they'll get used to each other being around. Neutral territory though, thats always a major with all animals.

xoxox

what you can try and do is give them treat together while in the same room. Put the kittens smells around their food bowl and vice-versa so they can associate the kitten with things they love.

cats normally learn to live with each other even if they dont like it. sometimes it takes having a couple of fights so they all know where they stand.

Having him done will certainly help.

How are they living at the moment?

When introducing a new cat to a home its best to do it quite slowly. The new cat is kept in 1 room at all times with a litter tray, food, water & toys. You take two clean dry cloths, rub one cloth over the new cat & then go & rub it over the resedent cat & vise vera with the other cloth. Rubbing the fur with a cloth will pick up the sent of the cat & trasfer it on to the other cat so they get used to each others sent without actually seeing each other. Do this a couple of times a day. Then start letting the resedent cat into the room for a bit each day slowly increasing the time. they will slowly get used to each other.

Sometimes it does take some fights before they calm down. Cats are very territorial & dont like other cats invading the territory. They will fight it out & form a heirarchy of order.

When you move to a new home things may settle down because it will be a whole new territory that dosent belong to any of them.

OK .... when you first move in together leave YOUR little man to wander around where he likes, but keep your Mum's girls in a large cage (like the dog cages you can buy from Argos) .... if you really can't get a large cage then just keep them in one room.

After a couple of days let your Mum's girls out - by that time your furbaby's scent will be everywhere so the girlies will think of it all as his territory and they won't be so cocky.

Feed them seperately, have him neutered and let them just winge at each other until they get used to sharing the space between all 3 of them :hugs:

You can also buy a 'plug in' pheromone stress buster online or from your vet .... it works like a plug in air freshener but it doesn't smell - instead it sends out soothing kitty pheromones which calm them down, stop them being anxious and helps to prevent arguments between them. Yes, I KNOW it sounds like a load of rubbish, but they do actually work :D

I have 2 female cats, one is 13 and the other is coming up for 2. The older 1 HATED my lil baby when she was a kitten, so rather than have them fighting constantly we keep the older 1 in my brothers room, where her food and water is and she meows if she wants out to pee. As she's old all she ever does is lye and sleep on my brothers bed, while Ellie (the lil 1) gets the run of the house. We did try and take it in turns, 1 would be kept in a bedroom while the other got the run of the house, but Meesha (the older 1) never wanted 2 leave my brothers room except to go outside.
I suppose it would be more difficult for u tho  xxx

TattiesMum, i saw an advert for 1 of those air fresheners the other night :)
I used 2 work at a garden centre and there was a plant u could buy to help soothe ure cat, cant remember its name tho :/ xxx

They are called feliway.

Never used them myself but talking to other cat owners who have, it has preformed miracles on their cats.

I'd completely forgotten the name of them - thanks :D

I've never used them either, but I have a friend who takes in stray cats and fosters them and she swears by these plug ins .... reckons it cures all sorts of stress related behaviours like fighting and peeing in the house and makes for a bunch of much happier kitties :)

Wow thanks everyone for some very helpful advice.

It is really funny if it wasn't such an issue :haha: My mum's cats are LITERALLY like pure muscle, like int the Disney films there's always some butch nasty character and then a cute little innocent one .. well my cats the innocent one haha. He likes to lay on my window sill and because it's ground level and there's a plant pot outside the Mum cat will sit on the the plant pot and scratch and scratch away at the glass for HOURS. And she just looks so evil like she really just wants to get him! My cat just lies there in the sun like pfffffft you can't get me but as soon as she's in the same room of I take him outside and she's there it's straight into my arms and he's shaking bless him. Sometimes I just look outside and the two of them are just kinda circling outside my room, would be really scary if they weren't such mushy cats the rest of the time!! Bless :haha:

Anyway thanks everyone, definately gonna try that plug in air thingy and good point about it being new territory - these cats have lived here for years so you're right it's completely all theres but it might be different in the new place :) xxxxxx
