I've seen threads about heartburn and how horrendous it is, can now understand your pain! Ouch!! I was awake half the night with it, not only was there the pain of the heartburn but it made the top of my belly hurt and I felt so sick. Gaviscon didn't help, infact after having some my tummy started hurting...felt terrible. Spent half the night propped up to try and help it.

I totally get it now...ouch ouch ouch!!! My mother in law (who was a nurse) tells me its the position of the baby, wherever it is he sits to make my heartburn bad I wish he'd move abit.

It's awful isn't it? It gets worse any time I move position in bed as well. I think mine is so bad because my baby is breech and I'm carrying very very high.

these babies are so naughty! lol. I wish I was one of the lucky ones who doesn't have it. try the rennie chewable tablets they are quite nice, like minty chewits! I have found that infortunatly it has got worse as the weeks have gone on, but that's just me. But at least it's for a good reason and it's not going to be forever. xxx

I was suffering with this to the point I would wake in the night to be sick with the acid  that friggin hurts!! I couldn't have a drink during the day without it hurting either.

I went to my dcotor after milk and gaviscon stopped working, I became so desperate.

Where my baby is breech, and has her legs up over her head, she was making it worse for me...:haha: so the doctor prescribed me Ranitidine (aka Zantac) and it is a miracle tablet...I can finally lay down at night and haven't suffered since!!

Thanks ladies.

you&me - I'll keep that in mind. My baby is head down at the moment, but I do think he is fairly high. I'm gonna go have some milk cos although its improved its still there and pretty uncomfortable.

Yep moving seemed to make it much worse and also lying flat.

Hmmm not the most fun part of pregnancy I have to say.

milk isn't working at this point for me either. it is dreadful. it's bad enough when you already can't sleep, but finally get sleepy, only to be woken up with this horrid feeling. i'm so over it!!!!!!!!! hope you feel better. xoxo

I can sympathise- I have suffered from this all the way through so far and have been chain eating Rennie for months. It is always worse at night when laying down- on my left side in particular makes it worse

Its horrid isnt it, for some reason it makes me cough and then I feel sick and start heaving.
Unfortunately had this bad with both boys and also with this one. Gaviscon isnt working at the mo, so think I may have to do what you & me said and take a trip to dr's.

Heartburn has been the hidden ninja for me this pregnancy. I was expecting everything. Sickness, cankles, stretchies, aches and pains but I was not expecting heartburn to be THAT bad! I've had it before, but pregnancy heartburn is definitely something else lmao.

I usually chain drink probiotic drinks when it's really bad as it's kind to the tummy. I actually thought milk was bad for heartburn because the fat content increases stomach acid?

:hugs:

Hmmm I dont know whether milk is bad, I had a glass about half an hour ago and its much better now, so at least temporarily it does work.

Might google see what I come up with. :)

I wasn't expecting heartburn either, and never realised it could be so bad. Ouch ouch.

Ooo i hear you, only had it a few times but gosh its awlful. I also keep getting like bile coming into my mouth eeekk

YES!! I agree. I have suffered awfully, and when I finally started on the Zantac, the heartburn disappeared. It is wonderful!

I thought I was alone!!! Heartburn is getting worse by the day!! I can drink a whole gallon of milk in 1 day that s how bad it has been..smh my doctor told me to get mylanta i do not want to walk around drinking that this pregnancy I did that last time and i cant stand it because of it... If the milk stops working i will go right to zantac

i keep wakin up in the night with acid in my mouth... bork... i have rennie's by my bed... they work upto a certain point... then i jus have to suffer xx

I also agree. Zantac is the only thing that's given me relief. Lately I have days where nothing at all helps, but for the most part, Zantac has made me feel semi normal again!

Sounds like its a real problem for alot of us. Today is the first time I've had it pretty much constantly, usually in the day I dont particularly have it. Not looking forward to sleeping tonight, might be painful.

Just for interest - it makes you cough because the acid comes up from your stomach and through the relaxed sphincter (thanks to pregnancy hormones!!) and tips over on to your vocal cords - burn its (mmmm nice) and the sensation makes you cough (which are the 2 vocal cords banging together!!)

oh i know how u feel its bloody awfull i cant lie down to sleep i also cant lie on my side i have to sleep sitting up in a werid postion. im so ready for this pregnacy to finish and yet i have so long too go.

:hugs: I hate it i have had it with all my pregnancies! It makes you feel so yuk! I cant wait when it becomes a choice of red, white & rose wine rather then org, mint, aniseed Gaviscon of an evening!

You could try peppermint tea. That helped me a bit. I've had it for ages but refused to take anything for it until I gave in a week or so ago and started using Gaviscon which is working for me. It tastes vile though.
