Hey Girls, It's been a long while since I posted on here as I've been trying to keep my mind off of ttc (as much as possible). So, over the last few months we started going to a private clinic to do tests as we are still waiting for our first appt with the public clinic (end of January.. finally after waiting a year on the waitlist!) Anyway, I've had blood tests and and hsg and all was clear. Hubby just had his first SA after long procrastinating on his part (we've been ttc for 2 years) and to his surprise there were no issues. My question is that we are wondering what else they will do, are there other tests they will do or will they suggest a type of treatment? On one hand it's great there are no issues so far, however, we are both puzzled and like why hasn't it happened then?! So confusing.. any help would be greatly appreciated! Would love to know what to expect in terms of recommended treatment/other tests.
Thanks

no one? Please if anyone has been in the same situation: normal blood tests, hsg, and sa... any insight on what comes next would be greatly appreciated.. going a bit crazy here. thanks :)

Ive not been in exactly the same situation but I can relate to the frustration :hugs: If all ur blood tests are ok, no abnormal hormone results etc... and sa was fine they may chalk you up with unexplained infertility - perhaps the worst diagnosis as its not really an answer, because we all need a reason behind why things are taking sooooo long. :hugs: I would imagine that you may be offered clomid as a first line of treatment If u do have unexplained infertility then i wud insist on having a u/s monitored cycle to begin with to see if you are actually ovulating and when, this wud be in combination with blood tests too on ur 3rd day of ur cycle and a 21 day progesterone test to confirm ovulation. Clomid is not without side effects for most people but if ur lucky u'll experience none like i did on 50mg :D
Good luck with everything hun - hopefully you'll get a response from someone in a more similar situation to yourself soon. :hugs: x

Thanks so much plex...I'm scared about trying clomid but atleast it would be something, I'm hoping they recommend IUI too.. it would be out of our pockets but we'd like to try it.

and purplesparkle, I did have an hsg which showed open tubes, not sure if a lap and dye is more thorough or if it's the same thing?

Did anyone have a post coital test? I've heard about them but wasn't sure if it's something that most doctors will do. I guess I'll have to wait till the end of the month.. always more waiting :)

Hoping the new year brings lots of luck to everyone!

It cud be that ur doc may not give u clomid but something else - it depends on what they diagnose u with tbh theres lots of different routes lol. I found it best to research all the different types of treatment meds etc and then ask ur doc about them all. after all if u have to pay to see them u might as well get ur moneys worth :) I had a big list with me the last time i saw my consultant asking about other tablets and injectables.
Ive not had that post coital test - i wud ask ur ob about it.
Whens ur appointment?

That sounds like a good idea, maybe I'll do some more research and bring along all my questions. My appt with the hospital (public service) is on Jan 29 and I have a follow up appointment with the private clinic on Jan 30 (they are the ones who have run all the tests so far as I've been on the wait list for the public services, although it is really odd here because the hospital might do more tests but if they recommend anything further they just refer you to the private place as the government doesn't do any of the procedures, etc. Any meds/procedures you know off hand that I should ask about? Clomid and a post coital will be on my list, and I will definitely be doing other research, but if you remember any off hand that would be great. Thanks so much for your support! I'm trying to be really positive about 2013 finally being our year!! fingersx!

off the top of my head there are two main tablet type meds to help u produce eggs and theyre clomid and femera/letrazole(i think thats what its alternate name is u'll have to check lol) Also some people take other things alongside these such as baby aspirin, prenatal vitamins, metformin. Its worth getting them to check ur thryiod levels -if they put u on any meds for this u cannot take baby aspirin aswell. Ur thyroid levels sud be between 1&2 apparently :) Ive never had an iui but if u did u may need to take a trigger shot a day or so before the proceedure to help you ovulate. I take a trigger shot called ovitrelle and it takes 1day per1000iu to leave your system mine is 6500iu iu stands for international units. There are other types of trigger shots too like pregnol(i think). Theres also injectables gondotropins such as gonalF & menopur which also stimulate ur ovaries to produce eggs but theyre considerably more expensive
Ive only had experience with taking clomid so ill tell u what my first cycle was like. I went in for a transvaginal u/s on cd3 to check folicles I began taking my clomid from cd2-6. Different obs prefer different days so u may do 3-7 or 5-9. I then went in for another tvu/s on cd12 and was told to take my trigger shot on cd13 and then bd that day and the following three days. I also had to have a blood test on cd3 and cd21. Ive not really had too many procedures so far so cant really give much advise im afraid xx

Yeah that is odd that ur public hosp will just refer u anyway - only for the investigations? when you need the treatment u'll be referred back to the public hospital?
Not too long to wait now till ur appointment :)
I really hope 2013s our year too fxd :hugs: xx

ps-ill carry on having a think about procedures and see if i can remember any more :)

I am in the same position as you are. We have no known issues so far and have had all the testing done. I went through 3 iui's as well and still nothing. I am heartbroken over it all and taking a rest from medications and iui these next few months and going for a second opinion.
Yes, it's great we have no issues, but i'm pissed because I want an answer! Have you had a laporoscopy done? I might do that next.

I also had a post coital test and they said it was perfect and the best they have seen! Well isn't that just lovely, right?

Thanks Plex and Chris! I will ask about those things at my appointment; I'm thinking of keeping the private appt (day after the hospital one) just to find out if they both recommend the same things.. it will cost us more but it would be nice to have a second opinion also. I haven't had a lap so I will be asking about that too. It's another CD1 today.. bleh.. so i've made myself a list of goals for the next 23 days (something for every day until my appt) so I can focus on other things, or at least make myself productive while waiting.. :) Sucks to be on to another cycle but I'm hoping that it will be the last one unaided; really hoping they give me something to try right away.

Thanks again for all of your support! Hope we all get our bfps asap :) I was putting away Christmas decoration this weekend and couldn't help thinking..just maybe..I'll have a bump next time I take them out :)

Sorry about AF :( but hope you can keep up a good spirit! I also was thinking the same thing when I was putting away my decorations. I said to myself either I will have a bump, baby or depressed.
