Wondered if anyone experienced this?

Has anyone had a hand first birth, and a normal 'head first' delivery? How did the pain compare?

Is it a big deal, or not much of a problem?

My SIL had her son superman stylee she had no pain relief except the birthing pool and needed stitches but nothing major, he also came out with his waters!! xxx

My baby came out with her hand by her face...they didn't tell me til after i delivered her! I had to have episiotomy and I had a third degree tear, but I would never have known to be honest...the pain was controlled well with gas and air + pethidine, which I will definately go for again next time.x

my wee man came out with his hand by his face and he was also back to back and didn't turn - the midwife was amazed that I managed to get him out without the need for intervention and no stitches either. I only had gas and air and a water birth.

my little one had his hand by his face i was told, but have nothing to compare it with sorry, but i did it on gas and air and didn't think it was toooo bad! he would also have come out in his waters if the midwife hadn't popped them and made a hole for him to escape!

My LO had her hand up by her head, was back to back and coming out face first!!! hence i had a emergency c section!!!! No chance was she coming out normally!

lol that's how Jacob came out too that's why midwifes were amazed!!

Sorry I can't give you any comparisons because she is my first, but Olivia was born with her hand by her face, and facing the side. I did it on TENS and pool only....no medical pain relief whatsoever. However, I did push for 2 and a half hours and get a lovely third degree tear as a badge of honour!

Mia's hand was by her face when she was born, and was back to back but I have no other experience to compare it with. I only used gas and air though, and needed no stitches so wasn't a terrible experience for me!

Yep same here! (except I didn't give birth in the pool, just used it for pain relief...not that it helped lol!)

Hi Toby was born with his hand by his face. I had no pain relief but I was pushing for a while. I had 2nd degree tear xx

I had a normal delivery with my first and with my last a nuchal hand with the last. I also had epiostomy with the 1st and the baby was 9lb 4oz. The last was only 6lb 12 oz and resulted in a perineum 2nd degree tear and torn labia.

My daughter did, I only knew because I got lots of lacerations from her very long fingernails, some of which needed stitching. Got a second degree tear and torn labia too.

Wasn't any more painful than my first birth. Used gas and air and gave birth in the pool xx

My LO had her had on her face and was back to back. I had to have an episiotomy and very very nearly had to have forceps. I had an epidural so can't advise on the pain sorry xxx
