I'm wanting to breast feed the baby when he arrives but I'd also like to express milk and secondly be prepared if breast feeding doesn't work. I've looked at bottles and think these are the two brands I'm interested in, can people give me their opinions on which is better to get.

We've tried both and both are good! We ended up switching to another bottle brand when my oldest was a couple months old because the Mams kept leaking from the bottom but I later realized they're also sold without the detachable bottom. If I'd known that we'd probably have stuck with them. Anyway, I prefer Nuk now but only because they also have glass bottles. :)

We use mam and I love them, we've never had a leak either! They can also be sterilised in the microwave without needing anything other than water, nifty! Plus they're pretty. :D

But I read somewhere that the teats on both of those bottles can cause nipple confusion with breast feeding, it might be better to look into bottles specially designed with breast feeding in mind.

The MAM bottles don't leak if they're put together properly, great for colic. They were the only bottles my lo would drink from, we tried nuk, avent and nuby aswell.

Another MAM vote. If put together properly they don't leak. They also helped greatly with LO's colic.

Fabulous ladies, thanks for the advice. Hubby prefers the MAM ones too so I think we'll go for them.

Both worked for us, none other did.

I use NUK. Lo is 17 months now, and still using the same bottles. LO was from 3 months on boob and bottle (daycare) and we never experienced nipple confusion. I have to mention, to this day, he is not really bothered where his food comes from, as long as he gets it :-)

And they are easy to clean, (whide neck ones)

definately the mam anti colic here, i bought nuby natural touch and had to switch as baby would only take the mam ones after a friend bought me one bottle as a baby shower gift and we gave him a feed from it

Definitely mam, we love ours. So handy for when you go away for the weekend as no need to take bulky sterilisers! Ours don't leak unless I dint put them together properly x

MAM are great. Millie has had expressed milk occasionally and her mouth shape is exactly the same round the teat & breast. My LC strongly advises against tommee tippee for breast fed babies

We used NUk, but this is what the special care baby unit recommended to my friend and I followed this. Lo was under the transitional care team and they recommended them too. !8 months on he still has 2 bottles a day and we are still using the Nuk originall ones-changed the teats sevral time :) But we had a Tommy tippy one that came free with sterilizer and Lo drank out of that too :) xx

We use NUK ones as she got used to them while we were in hospital. She spat the tommee tippee ones out (they also looked ridiculous in her wee mouth). I havent tried MAM but would recommend the NUK ones as they seem to fit my LOs mouth perfectly.

I use NUK, my LO likes them the best, plus they also have a trendline with nice designs. I also tried tomee tippee which my son did not like, and born free which he didn't mind, but ultimately NUK worked best for us. But every babies different, try out some different kinds until you find the one your LO likes best.

We use MAM. Must confess I do sometimes have issues with leaking but I know this is due to not putting it together properly at 3am or whatever!! I started out BFing then went to combi feeding when he was just over 2 weeks as I was having supply issues due to a difficult birth. DS took to the bottles very easily and as a pp said, the shape of his mouth around the teat was exactly the same as the shape of his mouth on the breast.

A lot of people say you need to wait 6 weeks before trying a bottle, but I disagree with this. The baby book we have says it's best to try a bottle within the first 3 weeks because the baby is more flexible, if you see what I mean. By 6 weeks they'll be so used to the breast they'll find it hard to make the change to a bottle. The author says nipple confusion is a myth and from my own personal experience I have to agree, but every baby is different I suppose! Good luck with it all :)
