OK I think I better tell you the full story from the start!

I didn't take to bf at first, so I started a bottle far too early. Ds was sick after every feed and i was exhausted trying to feed constantly to fill him back up. And I just couldn't seem to produce enough milk. He was a different baby on the bottle - so happy. And I got carobel to add to his bottle to stop the sickness.

Anyway, I decided to give bf a good go after all, and have been mix feeding since he was 3 weeks old. All was fine. He loved his booby time and settled much better after a bf than a bottle. Well thats os long as he got some gaviscon first!

Anyway, last Sunday night was the last time he fed, so over a week ago

He used to take 15-20oz of formula a day, plus a bf before every bottle, and a couple of bf's without a bottle. He took 5 bottles. Since he stopped bf he takes 35-40oz formula and 6 bottles. I think this shows that he got plenty from me. Yet I can only express ONE oz a day and thats pumping 6 times.

So he has been getting next to nothing for the last week.

When I try him on the breast he just screams and wriggles and gets sooooo distressed. I keep trying 5 or 6 times a day but I think that I have to stop soon.......... its not fair on him. I guess he has just decided he prefers the bottles after all?

My supply is bound to be all but gone anyway

Oh and just to add salt into my wounds, he now has the cold!! I feel its my fault!! I feel like rubbish tbh, and I really miss our booby time. And I don't feel ready to stop at all.

But I just can't get him to feed

get in that bed with ur bubs and have loads of skin to skin time it works wonders x x x:hug:

You could do what Claire suggsted - great excusefor a day in bed with your bub!!

If he's decided to stop dont beat yourself up - you could still offer boob at bedtime maybe??

Thanks girls. Good idea about the skin-skin.

Will def give it a go!

Good luck, hope it works and he feeds for you. He needs fluids while he has a cold.

you could increase boob time and reduce the bottles, that would help increase your breast milk, expressing is often no good as it doesnt empty the breast as efficiently as you baby would do.
