my Lo is 3 weeks old, and has thrush, he is on nystatin. since starting the meds, he is VERY fussy, he cries a lot, which is not like him, he is very gassy and pulls his legs up and grunts or starts crying. im not sure if its from the nystatin, his formula or what. he has acid reflux and is on zantac, he stopped being in pain when he went on that then got thrush.
anyone else with experience with nystatin, its helping to clear the thrush up but its just making him so miserable, any tips on what i can do to make him feel better?

Well my daughter is 3 weeks old and has oral thrush too, she's on her 2nd bottle of nystatin and she is also fussy and gassy, I have been giving her 2x droppers of Infacol before every bottle and this has really helped get her wind up. She doesn't like to part with it easily 😊, didn't even think it could be to do with the thrush medicine 🙈x

My DD1 bad thrush when she was little. I was breastfeeding so I used canesten oral gel on my nipples with every feed. After each feed I cleaned it off with a vinegar and water solution. We tried nystatin first but it didn't work for us so the oral gel was recommended and it worked a treat. I think you could use it just the same if you are FF.

My LOs on his second bottle and has had thrush since about 2 weeks old. He screams the house down everytime we give him it. Seriously, who thought aniseed flavoured medicine would be good for a baby?!
As for the wind I find infacol works well.

And a tip for the ladies who use infacol and nystatin, the dropper things out of the infacol fit perfectly on the bottle of the nystatin. Once you've used a bottle wash the dropper out, stick it on the nystatin and no more washing that useless spoon or syringe 4 times a day! The dropper on the infacol is 0.5 ml so I usually give him 2. Slowly or he spits it out and it's a nightmare to wash out of his bibs!

is infacol prescription? or can i just pick it up at walmart? i have his one month check up on the 21st so if its prescription i can ask about it then

In the UK you can just get it at the supermarket so I don't see why it would be any different in the US.
