Hey gals,

Just looking for some support. I'm pretty emotional as my little guy who will be 2 in July will be having a hernia repair surgery tomorrow. He was born at 33 weeks gestation with a condition called Gastroschisis where his bowels were protruding through a hole in his abdominal wall where his belly button should have been. They closed it up at birth but it left a hernia which is now being corrected. I know there are far worse illnesses and surgery's out there but just very emotional and worried about it, and being 28 weeks pregnant sure doesn't help when I'm trying to be strong!

Just looking for support and prayers :)

I've attached a pic of my little guy at birth and one I took today of his 'special' belly button. He's sure come a long way and done so amazing, I'm so proud of him!

Thanks for listening, I love B&B :D

Aww hun :hugs::hugs::hugs:

It's going to be tougher on you than him!! Looks like you have a real cheeky chappy on your hands and he'll be up and running around in no time.

My godson had surgery on his bowels before he was even term (born at 29 weeks). He bounced back so quick it was unbelievable.

Have you got someone else coming to the hospital with you while he's in theatre, I'd recommend that.

My nephew had surgery on a prolapse when he was 2.5 (Every time he pooped an ambulance was called poor kid)!! Anyway my brother said the toughest part is just as they put them under, as they go a little limp and it's really scary- they are TOTALLY FINE - but he said if you know that and can mentally prepare a bit in advance it's much better (hence why I mention it).

It's one of the toughest things a mummy can do - but I'm sure you'll both do great xx

Your right hun he has come a long way looking at the first pic of him as a baby with all those tubes must of been so hard and looking at the second pic wow what a little dude he is :) he obviously is a tough cookie and you must be so proud bless him!
It's normal to worry when your child has surgery your his mummy and your aloud to be but I'm sure everything will be just fine! I'll be Thinking of you and little man :hugs:

Good luck for tomorrow, i will be thinking of you both x

What a little champ you have!! He's adorable.

I'm sure everything will be fine! As Rickles said, the worst bit is when the anaesthetic kicks in and they go limp.. That really upset me when my daughter had surgery. She was born with an extra thumb and had it removed at 13 months old. Recovery-wise, kids are tough little cookies who just get on with it.. They don't feel sorry for themselves or let it slow them down!

Best of luck, I'm thinking of you both :)

best of luck to you hun! hes a little star

He looks like such a cheeky little monkey! I'm sure he will bounce back in no time, little ones are so resilient to those kinds of things.

thanks so much everyone! You have no idea how far kind words go to help get through tomorrow! as for the anasthetic kicking in part, yeah I read about that in a booklet we received at his pre-op. It said some kids can have jerking movements and move a lot and others will go limp or make noises, really freaked me out:wacko: but It's better to know and to be prepared for that rather than not know and freak out while it's happening. I need to be strong for my little man! Thank you all so much!

You will be a strong mamma for him and I'm sure he'll cope with it beautifully with your hugs to keep him going. He's adorable btw and I don't think we ever stop worrying about them, do we? Let us know how he gets on. Xx

Hugs hun! Your little man sounds such a trooper I'm sure he'll be just fine and on the mend in no time. Will be thinking of you both x

Aww bless him. He is a little cutie :)

Good luck for tomorrow, be good for you to get it over and done with. :hugs:

What a gorgeous little guy! :) Sending you lots of best wishes for tomorrow

didn't want to read and run. Good luck tomorrow! Your little boy is adorable!

Bless him. I'm sure everything will be fine and I'm sending you guys well wishes and good thoughts. Good luck with everything! Let us know how it goes. :hugs:

I'm hoping everything goes really well for your little boy today :hugs: As a mommy these things can be REALLY tough on us. If I can make you feel just a little better..my husband had hernia surgery at 2 back in 1979 and all went perfectly fine. Nowadays medicine has come along way and improving all the time. Stay strong mama!

Awwww he is beautiful! Good luck little man! What a cutie <3

Lots of luck to him and to you! My son has to have one too when he turns two. His belly button sticks out like an inch. Will be praying for you guys!

How did the surgery go? Very well I hope! :)

Hey! I had two hernias one in my belly button and one a little farther up. I was around his age as well. If a wimp like me can do it, a strong fella like him can :)

And if he was like me, he might have a lil larger belly button and enjoy sticking quarters in there! (From what my mom and brother told me)

Good luck dear

It went great ladies!! He is such a trooper! He was in pain and sleepy after surgery but nothing Mommys love and some good meds couldn't fix! Got discharged this morning, he's doing fantastic! Thank you all so much for your support!!!!
