odd question about c-sections

So, what happens to your mucus plug if you have a c-section. Does it just come out, in which case, when, or do they take it out after they deliver the baby?

I've been wondering this for ages now and thought I would ask.

In electives I think it comes away when you start to bleed post op but I have to be honest I didn't really think about it with #1. With #2 I shed the show because I was in full labour before the emergency section so...

I know they cathaterise so maybe they remove it then? although it wouldn't be in the way so I think the first think is the most likely.
