Amongst the things she said to me today: -
"My sister got a dog. That's all it took for her to get pregnant." (because that will solve everything won't it?)
"In future, why don't you keep it between you and your husband? Sometimes it's just best not to talk about it at all" (erm, I wasn't even talking to her? I was talking to the person that sits next to me)
"If you don't ovulate then why do you get periods? You're wrong, there." (Hmm, because the fertility expert told me that my body gears up to ovulate, hence the multiple opks that are positive, and then finally gives up, meaning it's done everything but release an egg and so eventually the estrogen balance changes and my body sheds its womb lining - a period, in essence!)
"Lets be honest, you haven't been trying that long have you? After all, it took my sister 8 years." (Her sister who was separated from her husband for three of those eight years, yes?)
"You change how long you've been trying to suit you. How long IS it exactly?" (because, y'know, the fact that I was off the pill, having regular sex and STILL not getting pregnant for four years means nothing, doesn't it? Because I'm doing it all for attention, aren't I? Because over two years of active, rigorous trying as well as one twin miscarriage isn't enough, is it?)
"I do know what waiting feels like. It took me four months to get pregnant with Jack." (four months. Oh God bless you, that's so LONG!)
Sometimes, people should really just shut the fuck up.
