Ok, i'm trying not to stress out until we see the FS. I have a question about myself that I need to ask him.

About 6 years I had a laparoscopy and an hysteroscopy (sp?) done due to painful sex and periods. They thought I had endometriosis but the surgery proved that I didn't. The gyno at the time told me that they did however find that I had a heart shaped uterus. I remember him telling me that it 'shouldn't' affect me having kids.

I'd almost totally forgotten about it, or not thought much about it at least for a long time, then when I remembered today I called it up on trusty old google.

From reading articles, studies and womens own experiences with a heart shaped uterus, I came to find that it:

* Increases risk of miscarriage

* Increases risk of the baby dying inside you because the placenta can become unstuck or something?

* For the above reasons you sometimes have to have an emergency c-seciton at 30 weeks.

* Usually results in the baby being breech so again a C-section.

Um...can I have a break please? ](*,)

Ok...so yes, trying not to stress until I hear what FS says - google can be so bad sometimes!

Anyone ese have a HSU?

I don't, but I wanted to post and say try not to worry (I know that's silly, like saying don't look down). I've had uterine surgery for an AVM, and have two small uterine AVMs currently, and everything I read online says there's NO way I'll ever be able to carry a pregnancy, if I even get pregnant it will result in early MC, it's all terrifyingly negative. Know what my gyno said? "Bah, what a load of crap. The latest research shows that you should be just fine, no issues whatsoever. Don't believe what you see on the computer screen, come to me and ask questions" - He's the best and the brightest, so I'm told (every other doctor I see in the city knows his name, it's a bit scary) and hasn't steered me wrong so far.

I hope very much that the same logic applies in your situation - sometimes what we read on the almighty InterWeb isn't up to date, or correct, or doesn't apply in the reader's individual case.

But yes, I can see why you'd like a break. As if everything else isn't enough, right? Hang in there.

Hi
My friend was told she had a heart shaped uterus when she was having investigations but she had a healthy baby 3 months ago with no complications. Sometimes I think there is too much info out there and it makes us worry too much!! I was told my uterus tilts backwards but that it shouldn't matter it just makes it harder to scan apparently.

Thanks girls! And yes, the net is full of so much negative stuff.

Google is a bad thing with aliments making a simple cold to be deathly!

See what your FS says and try not to worry :hugs:

My neighbor has one, and she was able to get pregnant quickly, but she did have a lot of problems throughout her pregnancy. BUt she did carry him to term and he is as healthy as can be.

women all over the world have healthy babies under extreme conditions, im sure you will be fine

saaaaww hunni try not to stress wait to see ur FS guy as tghings medical world has changed xxx

i am sure you will be fine ....strong woman can achieve anything and it sound and look to me that you are a strong one !

try not to stress hun, (easier said then done) as everyone has said the internet sometimes carries far too much info for our little eyes! and we should'nt believe everything thats put on there, everyone's different

xx

Hey hun- I have an extremem form of this- called a bicornuate uterus. Basically the part that dips down in the middle on yours? On mine there's a whole wall that goes all the way down the middle! It's MUCH more risky than your condition (which by the way, heart-shaped is WAY more common than people realize!). All the risks you have, I have but on a far greater scale! Well, anyway, I'm pregnant with my second child, no problems up to now other than some uterine pain when preg with my first! So far this time, no problems! And I haven't ever had a diagnosed miscarriage (believe I had a chemical pregnancy though, before first was concieved- nothing to do with the uterine problems)!
So anyway, one issue that many women have with our conditions is having periods while pregnant! I believe that's the most common! So don't worry- I don't think that will have much (if any) of an impact on your TTC or pregnancies! I have a healthy baby girl, and another kiddo on the way! Good luck hun!:hugs:

BY THE WAY- last time I did a search online about a simple skin rash, I found info saying that I had AIDS, Cancer, every STD known to man, and a million other issues. AVOID the net! It's insane!!! I also found tons of negative info on the uterine conditions that made it seem hopeless! Don't worry!

Aww, honey I have the exact same thing.
They call it a subseptate uterus. My doctor told me it doesn't cause infertility, but it can on rare occasions cause MC in the first trimester. Talk to your specialist about it, I'm planning on getting all the information from my Gyno (when the appointment finally arrives!)
