Ever since having children my pelvic floors have been shattered, getting worse with each one (this is my 3rd). Over the last two weeks I've had such a bad cough which today got diagnosed as a chest infection so have penicillin now. The problem is every time I cough I'm uncontrollably weeing and not just a drip like full on, even when I've just been to the toilet and don't need to go, there's just never ending wee. I'm going through two pairs of jeans a day and all my underwear even with using tenna lady pads they are completely absorbed with urine, I'm currently now in my OHs Calvin Klein boxers as I've run out of underwear. I know this will require surgery once I've had the baby as no amount of pelvic floor exercises will help or have ever helped me in the past. Is anyone else having this sort of problem? It's pure incontinence it's so embarrassing I'm only 26 :-0 any recommendations ladies? I'm desperate here!!! X

Sorry that sounds really difficult. Have you been to the doctor or talked to the midwife? - in the uk you can be referred to a continence nurse who should be able to help you with different options and get you some better pads for the time being. The tena pads you can buy are basic and hopefully a proffessional would be able to better assess your needs and even get them at reduced cost (maybe?). Hopefully just a temporary solution before you can be assessed for surgery or longer term solution. Hope you get some useful help soon xxxx

Thanks so much for the reply! Oh I had no idea there were special nurses in this area I'll definitely take a trip back to my doctors on Monday and see if he can refer me. It's not anywhere near as bad if I'm not unwell but the second I get a cough or something which I haven't stopped doing the last couple of weeks , it's totally out of my control!! Even a sneeze I have to cross my legs tightly to try and stop it! X

I'm sorry I don't have much advice, but you can most likely fill up your bladder more efficiently if you lay on your side after drinking fluids or go on all fours. I do both and now get a nice full bladder and actual relief every time. It can take 15-30 mins though and sometimes it takes an hour to be done peeing. But I personally can not drink and sit or stand up. I need to lay down, do all the peeing, then I'll get up and won't drink anything til later. My problem is kidney and urinary tract obstruction so with baby on it they won't flow right and it recently caused me a bad infection.

I would think going to see a physio who specialises in pregnancy type practice would be a good start. There are likely to be a number of exercises they can give you to at least improve your condition.

Thanks for the replies, never dreamed I would be faced this situation so early on in life :-0 x

3rd baby in 4 years here...and YEP, I had a cold last week and was peeing with every cough! Sucks! Normally I can 'hold it' "ENOUGH" to get to a toilet...but damn that sucked...I feel you, it's very concerning!

I also have a horrible cough right now and this is also my 3rd. I've only had c sections but I'm definitely feeling it. Whenever I feel the need to cough I run to the bathroom because I know I'll end up soaked if I don't. I also just got over the flu and I had to throw up in the bathtub so I could sit on the toilet or I would be kneeling in a puddle of my own urine . I don't have any advice, just know you aren't alone! :hugs:

Awww i feel for you. I'm not the same either after kids but just wanted to say ha e you tried using normal sanitary pads? I'm wondering if they'd be thicker than what you're currently using as that may help a little? It must be exhausting carrying on like this and I hope the doctors can help you too

Hi :) I did this last night and I think it helped in the night but this morning it seemed to just go round the sides of the pad :/ so that's another pair of wet knickers in my washing machine lol ah I just want this chest infection to clear as this won't be happening as much at all if i don't keep getting that annoying tickly cough!! It is exhausting though you're right there I almost don't want to go out anywhere in case it happens! X

I used to get very heavy periods before and it used to go off the edges of the pad. I would use winged pads, the heavy duty ones then on top of that is stick on a thick night time pad. This helped and stopped the leaking, making sure I changed often. Just a suggestion, as I can't imagine what you're going through everyday. GL x
