Im seeing a consultant Friday morning and then being induced...im sick with nerves and just cant seem to pull myself together at all :(

They said depending on how urgent a case i am combined with how busy they are etc i may be staying in that day to be induced. I dont think they induce on a weekend so if not friday it will be monday maybe.

So my question is, when i go in will OH be able to come in initially with me? And will he stay for the duration? if not when is he likely to have to leave?

Im worried things will get going when he isnt there and he may miss it :(

i got induced late at night they did the exam and monitored me then gave me the gel and put the monitor back on for a bit and we sent DH home caus it wasnt expected that i would have the baby before mid morning lol he got back in time though but only just

Here your husband or partner can stay with you the duration of the time you are in the hospital for birth, wheter it is inducement, natural, or just recovery. I'd hope they don't send him home and leave you there all alone. That's seems wrong!

Usually oh's are only allowed to stay when youre on the delivery suite. So when you're not in active labour you'll be sharing a ward either waiting for things to properly get going, the start of your induction or on the postnatal ward after having baby thats when they will ask him to go I'm afraid, not fair I know :( x

My friend was induced, her husband was sent away and by the time he arrived back she was in theatre having an EMCS / or had just had it I can't remember which, as there was a sudden problem... :( Hopefully other hospitals let partners stay.

at our hospital partners are allowed on the maternity ward at any time during the day. i was induced at 6pm and OH left at about 8pm to get some rest (we had my son at home and OH had to be up for work the next day) i phoned and got OH to come back as i was being moved up to delivery x

I got induced at lunchtime and my labour was very slow, My OH stayed with me untill 10pm then got sent home (i was not happy & scared to be alone but ) Then when they moved me round to labour ward at 5am he was phoned to come back and stayed the whole of the next day with me untill i gave birth at 5.55pm ..... then after that he stayed after the birth till 9pm and went home x

Think it depends on hospitals and how fast your labour is xx

My first 2 inductions were 4 days long and ex DH was sent home around 9-10ish at night. Then he was allowed back in first thing. When I gave birth in the night with Ozzie he stayed until around 3am and then went home.

my hospital induces 7 days a week. i was induced on a saturday. went in at 7 am and he was with me til the birth

Seems like it is a hospital specific policy - my OH was allowed by my side throughout all phases of labor, delivery, and post partum. And if I had needed an emergency c-section, he would have attended that too (you can have 1 support person attend an emergency c-section at the hospital I have used).

Hope your hospital allows him to stay!

at my hospital he could say all the time and sleep over but i sent in home the first night to be with DS and nothing was happening x

I was supposed to get induced on friday, they were too busy, so sent me home, got induced saturday, wasn't progressing, got sent home sunday, went back in monday morning, had her monday afternoon, OH stayed with me the entire time, but we did have a private room.

at my hospital, if your not in active labour, partners are sent home at 8pm and can come back at 8am... sucks! <3

My hubbie was aloud in the ward all day but had to leave at 9pm and could come back at 8am. I kinda think it fair enough as there are other ladys on the same ward that might not be comfortable with a strange bloke staying overnight. Hubbie got called back as soon as things started to progress and he stayed the whole time I was in the labour suite. Xx

OH was allowed with me all day until 9pm. he then went home.
my waters broke at midnight.. and he got called back in and i was sent up to delivery suite.
i wouldn't worry about him missing anything hun. xx

Id depends if your started off on the ward or on delivery suite, if your on the ward then they usually cant stay but if your on delivery suite they can.
