Hi all.

I have a question about Maternity Allowance.
My OH is full time employed.
I'm a self employed gardener and I also sell plants and garden products to people and I will be stopping work later in the year and claiming MA.

My question: is it OK for my other half to take over my work, doing gardens for my clients and selling them things, he would do it evenings and weekends. I know he will need to register Self Employed and I don't think there's any problem with being Employed and Self Employed. All of the clients would pay him directly so I wont be earning.
The reason I want to do this is so that the business keeps going and there is something for me to come back to.

Does this seem OK? In effect he is taking on the business under his name, self employed so that I can take the time off and claim MA.

Hope that all makes sense!
Thanks.

Browndog.

sounds ok to me!
you can do 10 KIT days (keep in touch) so 10 days work during your mat leave without it affecting your MA.

you could speak to the HMRC or ACAS for more info.
