I have some boots up on ebay, I literally just put them on!! I've got a message asking this:

Hi,
I'm interested in the boots. If I won, would you accept a postal order as payment- guaranteed as its bought at a post office- as I don't have paypal,
Cheers

What does this mean? Anyone got advice? Is this a reliable payment? I don't think I want to risk it.

Totally reliable, but, you can say that you won't send them until the money clears into your account.

Its a VERY old fashioned way to pay!!

Haha thanks don't know what I'd do without you ladies! I thought you recieved the slip and took it to the post office and they gave you the cash..

Yeah, thats how it works esentially. You get the piece of paper through the post and the PO cash it for you.

if you want to cash it at a post office, make sure you tell her it needs to be an un crossed postal order. if its crossed it can only be paid into your bank account x

even a crossed postal oreder will definately clear.. cos its already paid for.. now unless the postal service royal mail goes bust the day you pay it in, then you'll get it cleared 5 days later defo like a normal cheque. x

ooo yes, never say no to a postal order, only wait until you have recieved it before sending off the goods!

yeah postal orders can be a good thing because once it arrives you can package up the item and take them both to the post office cash the postal order and use that money to post the item x

PO's are fab, ask them to send it recorded delivery so if it gets lost in the post they can make a claim.

V xxxx

i used to use PO's all the time - I reckon safer than a cheque book as it's already been paid for, unlike a cheque where the person can write one even without fuunds in account! x
