What on earth is going on?

We gave Max Aptamil Hungry Milk a few weeks ago and he seemed to be ok. Then for a few days every time we gave it to him he seemed to react to it, cry and seemed to be in pain.

Tonight I've tried it again. He took most of the bottle, I winded him and then laid him down in his cot to go to sleep. He immediately started screaming the place down and was inconsolable. He was screaming like he was in pain, his forehead went quite red and blotchy too and is now covered in red spots. I checked his chest and he only had about 4 red lumps.

He calmed down after 15 minutes, and is now asleep

What's going on?
Does anyone know of a possible allergy to hungry milk?

No idea. I tried Ellie with hungry milk once and she was so windy and in pain all that night that I just haven't bothered again.

Seems weird that he was OK but isn't now. Sorry I can't help!

Have you tried hime on the normal aptimal milk and not the hungry milk kind? Maybe the hungry milk is giving him wind. He's prob just be blotchy and red because he has worked himself up so much with crying. :hugs:

I found the HB milk made my LO windier than normal so switched back to Stage 1. I wonder if it is the thickener in the milk that disagrees with some babies digestion. She occasionally got spotty but this occurred with Stage 1 milk and we just put it done to milk rash.

It could be the 'stress' of trapped wind/stomach ache that is making your LO break out but, obviously, keep it monitored. Do you give water or gripe water at all? I found these worked well with my LO when she had trapped wind.

xx

I can't get him to keep gripe water down, he always brings it back up again no matter how I try and get it in him
He was super windy yesterday and had a bit of belly ache
The hungry milk is going in the bin and I'm just sticking to stage 1

Maybe try infacol - think it is a bit easier to get LO to take

my HV told me it does make them windier as the protein used is different and turns to a like cottage cheese consistency in their tummies. Hope LO is ok now xxx

I used to give my LO 5ml of gripe water mixed in with about 6 ounces of water or in with her milk. She seemed to take it better this way. As OP said, you could try Infacol or Dentinox (I used the latter) but you have to add it to each milk feed to see a result. I found the gripe water was good for soothing tummy aches quickly. When LO is really bad, warm baths are meant to help too.

Just some ideas!

Best. xx
