Hi to everyone in here :) I'm probably a bit early to come in here but the baby club seems to be more for younger babies than mine.

Would anyone mind telling me about their LO's weight gain?

Ruby put on NO weight last month and only 3oz the month before.

I'm trying to work out if this is normal for a 10 month old, or older.

I know gain slows at around a year but this seems a bit extreme?

Dr and HV are a bit surprised but not concerned YET.

Thank you!

Hannah's weight gained slowed when she started crawling, and more so when she started walking but I don't think we ever went where she didn't gain (but she was not weighed on a monthly basis). At 10 months she weighed 18 something and by 12 months she was just about 20 pounds? I don't remember her weight or when we had her weighed before that :(

Hayden is really small so he's probably not the best to compare too, he just doesn't grow.

But at 7mo he was 19lbs 8oz
9mo 19lbs 4oz
12mo right about 20lbs

Then he made it to about 22lbs 14mo? We got to start him on cows milk at 16mo and he finally hit a growth spurt making it to 25lbs..I can't remember exactly when that was but I'd say 18-20mo.

He's 29mo now and still at 25.5 to exactly 26lbs depending on the day.

He's been the same height now for months, 33 1/2in. But he isn't "normal", I found this showing what an average baby gains from age 1-2

"During this second year of life, your toddler may gain between 3 and 5 pounds (1.4 to 2.26 kilograms). An average 15-month-old girl weighs about 22 pounds (about 10 kilograms) and stands 31 inches (79 centimeters) tall. Boys tend to be about a pound heavier at 15 months but about the same height.

By age 2, both will stand about 34 inches tall (86 centimeters) and weigh about 27 to 28 pounds (12.25 to 12.7 kilograms) on average. Your toddler's head size also will not change as dramatically this year, with about 1 inch (2.54 centimeters) added to head circumference."

Thanks both.

I won't worry yet then, seeing as Ruby is the average weight of a 15 month old at 22lb 11oz! She was not big at birth (7lb) so maybe she's just heading back to where she is 'supposed' to be in the charts.

Violet's weight gain has slowed... but only slightly. And she's crawling, pulling herself up, cruising and walking with her walker :dohh:

On 12 Jan she weighed 20lb 14oz and on 23 Feb she weighed 21lb 14oz. But it's nice seeing her not moving up a percentile for a change!

If Drs and HVs aren't worried then I wouldn't be. You know Ruby's eating well so I wouldn't worry x

Darwin grew like a weed for the first year, but now he's slowed down dramatically - he weighed 24.5lb at 12 months (he was 5lb 11oz at birth) but now at 14.5 months he's only about a pound heavier. He is quite a bit taller now, so he's MUCH thinner than he was - at 10 months he was wearing larger pants than he's wearing now! His weight is 50th percentile (was 75th at 12 months) and his height is 95th, but the doctor doesn't seem remotely concerned that his weight percentile is going down.

I think as long as a toddler is eating well and meeting milestones, weight isn't a huge concern as long as they're not continually losing. They're expected to triple (or more) their birth weight in about the first year, but most kids only put on about 4-5lb in their second year.
