Older mums - how long did it take you to conceive? UPDATE BFP !

Hi there, I'm 38 and have been trying for my first baby since January. No luck so far. Just wanted to find out how long it took others of a similar age? Please take the poll and give me some hope thanks.

I started TTC when I was 34 and finally got pregnant just after I turned 37. I have PCOS, though, so it's not just an age thing for me.

Having said that it took me 12 months, it took my best friend (35 same as me) 1 month and my sister-in-law (40) 3 months... so you just never know.

Question doesn't apply to me but it took my mum 6 months to conceive me at 35 and my sister was a surprise conception at 40

About 2 years.

Extenuating circumstances: I have PCOS and psoriasis and had been on the pill for over 10 years. Being 36 is actually a plus with PCOS.

Without extenuating circumstances up to a year is still normal even though "they" say to get medical intervention after 6 months after 35.

I was 36 (OH 37) when we started to try to conceive our first (after 3 months off the pill).

It took three months for us. Neither of us had any reason to suspect any reproductive issues other than I had cryotherapy 2.5 years ago.

Thank you. I'm on my 4th cycle now so fingers crossed. Think being on the pill for so long is causing problems. Can't wait for things to get back to normal, whatever that may be!

I was on the pill for about 12 years prior to that 4 months. Good Luck!

Yes, I was on it a long time too, probably nearer 20 years! Maybe some of your good luck will rub off on me. Congratulations by the way. Hope you have a lovely pregnancy.

We weren't trying as such. Just one time unprotected and dah dah! I was 35 when I conceived and 36 now. With my first I was almost 4 years younger and it took us a year! Good luck x
