Arghh im finding it so hard not to get stressed, i know its not her fault but im so fedup now i just want to cry!!

Shes being an absolute nightmare with her food. For some reason i cant hold her whilst she feeds, shes been like this the past 2/3 days. The only time i can hold her is up im standing up, as soon as i sit own she starts screaming and throwing herself back.

Shes being really fussy with her bottles. Only taking little bits here and there so im getting through so many and wasting so much milk.

Is it just because of her teeth? How long is this supposed to last? I feel so sorry for her but i cant help but get stressed out when i have to stand up feeding her and it absolutely kills my arm. Ive tried putting her in her swing to feed her and shes ok, but she gets absolutely soaked from it because shes virtually sitting up in it.

Im giving her anbesol and calpol regularly but its helping at all with her feeding.

Help pleaseeeee :(

have u tried a teething necklace? I know other mums on here swear by them. Might help her relax and take the edge of the pain.

Those amber necklaces?

I know ive heard alot of good reviews about them, but i just dont like the idea of them.. I dont like the idea of her wearing a necklace iykwim, even though i know they arnt and they are for a good reason... idk id just rather not if i could help it..

Speak to your HV if you haven't already. Ruby is throwing herself backwards and screaming during feeds sometimes, I'm going to talk to my HV and see what she says.
I've noticed that Ruby takes her dream feed best, so maybe try feeding Maisie when she is most relaxed and not really, really hungry.
Hope things get better.

oh honey :hugs: i don't no what to suggest, maddi was never like that with teething, i do hope it passes soon :hugs: might be worth popping to your doc? poor you and maisie :hugs: xx

Im getting her weighed today so will ask there... i hope i can get some answers! Thanks girls. xx

We give Aisling a bottle of ebm in the evenings and we went through a period of about 3 weeks where she'd only take the bottle if she was lying flat on her back on the floor without being touched! :dohh: I'm not sure what that was about, she'd throw herself backwards too but she eventually got over it...

ok so i had this to around masies age, it was like she didnt want me to hold her to feed her, i tell you what worked wonders was putting her in her bouncer to feed her, she instantly chilled out and just tookd them. it was a pain in the bum though, she wouldnt cwtch and feed and i was getitng well stressed and she was taking the first like 2 ounces and then fussing the rest of the bottle hitting it and so on.

hope u get it sotred soon

xx

Same here. Billie likes to be reclined against a cushion on the floor like Lady Muck!

put her in a bouncer or swing
put the bottle in her mouth
and put a blanket or something
under the bottle to hold it in position

works wonders, emily isn't a fan of
being held whilst eating either but
this way she can hold it and spit it
out when she's had enough, i've done
it since she was about 2 months old
and when she nods off i just leave her
there to dream feed

:hugs:

Harry is the same - he hates drinking his milk and throws himself back. He's done this since he was about 3 months old and we've struggled since. The max he'll drink in any one sitting is 5oz.. but that's is VERY rare. He takes approx 20oz a day. We even weaned him early because he seems more interested in food than milk, and he's currently on a high fat, high calorie diet in a bid for him to put some weight on which does seem to be working.

We went to see a dietician about ways of increasing his milk intake. She suggested we go back on to stage 1 formula (we were on hungrier baby formula). I've posted a thread in the weaning section called "fat" - maybe it might be of some help if you think Maisie and Harry are similar.

Were having a similar problem but it only seems to be his before bed feed!

Same problem...I spoke to HV and she said he's going through a growth spurt...For 3 weeks?!? I dont think so....

Exactly!! Ive been told growth spurt, but those are meant to last 2-3 days, not weeks !!!

Still the same hun really, i just put her in her swing now to feed her as thats where shes happiest...

I have to hold her to do her feed before bed though and she starts to cry but shes fine as soon as i bounce her a bit or something? I really dont know what it is!

If shes teething maybe when you lie her back her teeth are hurting?
Somebody told me this afew weeks ago when Chloe was being really fussy with her bottles and screaming like I was trying to feed her wee or something!
Maybe try propping her head right up???

She wont let me feed her at all holding her unless im bouncing her up and down whilst i do it which is hard!

Shes fine in her swing so i guess im just going to have too do it like that for a bit.
