Omg, omg, omg!!!!! UPDATE pg 5

Right girlies, can't believe this could be the route to all my problems. Internet reading is bad, I KNOW!!!!! but I can't help myself

OKAY, as most of you know I've just had my 4th MC and on thursday night the most bizzare thing happened to me. I had to take a DF118for the pain (MC had started) and I thought I was having a reaction to the codeine in it. My body felt strange (drunk like) and my hands were numb along with parts of my face. So since then this feeling has stayed with me, not the nicest of feeling let me tell you!

ANYWAY, it's just came to me today, I had this feeling when I had my thyroid removed in December 06, there is a high risk of the parathyroid gland being affected, this is the gland that produces calcium, and unfortunately, my gland was damaged. I took calcium tablets for a year after the op but stopped taking them as my body felt fine, UNTIL THURSDAY night.

After reading the net (tut, tut) it turns out if you have low calcuim levels this can cause misscarriage (by 85% may I add in the 1st trimester). I am back at my Thyroid surgeon on wednesday to discuss thyroid and RMC....OMG this could have been the problem all along. When I went to the gyn last week he told me there was no medical explanation for my losses, which left me feeling more empty than ever. I think i could have dealt with it better if there was.

WOO HOO!!!!! I'm so exciting about my appointment on Wednesday now.

But I mean that if this is what it is then there is an answer - I don't understand doctors who can say theres no medical reasons for 4 miscarriages!!!

I agree, it's a case of something is better than nothing. I know that sounds awful but if there is something wrong it can be treated.

I think you can find some very helpful useful information off the internet. Sometimes we have to self diagnose ourselves since the doctors don't seem to have time to research it for us. Trust me, I've done it plenty. Now, if only we could self medicate ourselves....

Couldn't resist......I mean being told there is no medical reason, HELLO!!!!!! I do have my appointment with Guadion on the 27th Feb and this appointment with the Thyroid surgeon was put in her diary in January, so nice timing

Mrs JD - good luck with your appointment! I personally think they take you a bit more seriously if it looks like you have done your research and you will not accept them palming you off!! They are so busy a lot of them don't have time, so you need to look out for yourself and self-diagnose as you know your body better then anyone!

I know what you mean about the frustration of having no medical reasons for you mc's and that it wouild be easier to fix something if you knew what the problem was, but I'm trying to look at the positives of that and put mine down to REALLY bad luck and hopefully not stress too much yet! (easier said that done I know!!)
