So I just found out that my sister's child has worms and she neglected to tell me until last week. I wasn't too worried because we didn't seem to have any symptoms but I have just found today that I have them.

I have a 10 month old boy and I have read that under 2 should not be treated nor breastfeeding mothers. :S
WHAT DO I DO??????????????????????????????????????

I'm not sure if LO has it, but I'm guessing he does as we co-sleep. Has anyone else had this with LO so young????

OMG no clue, but that's crazy! I would go to the doctors, that's all I can think of!

Hi by the way! Hope you are both ok! :hugs:

Oh! That is so sad! Yes, be sure to go to the doctor (you'll probably need to see a specialist because of the rarity of worms in the States). I just got back from the Philippines where worms and parasites aren't as rare. I don't know much about worms and breast feeding mothers and babies, but I do know one home remedy if the doctors tell you that there is nothing they can do until you are done breast feeding and your child is older. It is not the most pleasant way, but you can always try it if you want. (Sorry it is so gross! but worms are really gross as well!)

This is also hard for a breast feeding woman, because you need to eat and your baby needs food, but here it is. Eat very little food for 48 hours, or don't eat for 24 hours. Then get a pot of milk and boil it. Once it is boiled stick it on the ground (I'd do it in the bathroom) and squat over it. Wait. The worm will be so hungry he'll smell the boiled milk and will literally crawl out of you into the milk. Sorry! I told you it was gross.

Oh! I just feel so bad for you. Good luck!

NASTY.

to the OP; look up diatomaceous earth. it might be helpful in this case.
Also, worms aren't really THAT rare in the states. Uncommon perhaps, but not rare. You can get them if your dog has fleas, or from eating certain meats if they're not prepared properly. Sushi's apparently a big one. Anyway, I'd try the diatomaceous earth. Its not medication, its a natural feed supplement usually given to livestock and animals, to keep their coat shiny and it takes care of worms too!

Im not from the states, Im from Austraila. It didnt end up being worms thankgod for both of us. But I did clean everything and make sure from now of OH is super aware of how worms in contracted. He isnt the most hygienic person :S men.
