Ok so what I am about to say might make be look really foolish but now that its in my head i HAVE to ask...

So I was just replying to another thread when something I was told a while back struck me...

When I was being tested for PCOS I was sent for an ultrasound. When I went back to the doctors she told me that everything was fine but they could only find one ovary. She said it was probably hiding behind something else so not to worry (which, up until now is exactly what I have done), however, CAN a doctor conclusively say that a woman does not have PCOS without seeing BOTH ovaries??

I really do have so many of the symptoms of PCOS,( irregular cycles, unexplained infertility, obesity, excess hair, acne etc), and was convinced that they were going to find it when they done the scan, but I accepted and was pleased when I was told everything looked normal... but it has just struck me that maybe I could have cysts on the ovary they couldn't see

Sorry if I am completely misunderstanding how it all works but i needed to ask... hope someone can answer it for me. :hugs:

They couldn't see my left ovary on either ultrasound I have had and I still got my diagnosis of PCOS. I may be wrong but I don't think they need to confirm cysts on your ovaries in order to get a diagnosis because they also can run hormone tests and look for other symptoms as well.

Thank you for your reply. Thats interesting. All my bloods came back normal, the only ones the doctor picked up on were these two.

SHBG :18
Estradoil: 157

She didnt' seem overly confident what they meant but said she'd refer me to a FS . WE have now had all the tests run that the FS wanted done, and we are waiting for an appointment. DH SA came back "normal". Thats all I know, we haven't been given any numbers etc.

Anyone know if these results are normal or not and if not what it could mean? I blieve the SHGB is low??
