my LO feeds every 2-3 hours and has 3-5 ozs (including nights), i spoke to the HV this morning when he was weighed and she said it's perfectly normal and he is a grazer and acting like he is BF, but if i wanted to try and see if he will go longer try him on Cow & Gate as its thicker (not hungry baby) than Aptamil, is this worth trying do you think?. He is happy on Aptamil no excess wind/colic problems, sometimes i wonder if he has reflux at night but again nothing bad or upsetting. Is it worth upsetting him for the sake of maybe getting a extra hour between feeds if I'm lucky? (it may not work). What would you guys do?. He is 6 weeks on Friday.

Also he was born 8lb 8 and was weighed this morning at 12lb3, so he has rocketed up the chart and gone up percentiles, so he has stopped following the same line, should i be worried and is he eating too much, my OH keeps telling me a feed him to much!!

Not sure whether this is advice, but I'd stick to the formula you're using. Thicker might clog him up. We have just switched to SMA with seemingly no problems (so far) but only because OH can reuse the containers!
How long has his pattern been 3-5oz every 2-3 hours? I'm trying to pump as much into my LO as possible each feed, he's on 4oz at the moment, to try and get him to sleep, so am looking for advice on how to wake them up during feeds!

Hi Hun,

I would say as your LO seems happy on Aptamil, keep him on it rather than risk the upset of a different type not suiting.
Also, you can't feed a 6 week old too much, he'll soon tell you if he's had enough/too much. With his weight gain sounds like you're doing a fab job:thumbup:

My Lo was 8 lbs when he was born (50 percentile) , & 13 lbs at 8 wks (82 percentile). he stayed on the same line since then. I think babies add more weight during the 1st wks. As long as he's not having any problems with the formula he's taking, I dont think there is any need to change it. xx

Thanks his pattern has been pretty much the same since birth, he goes 1 hour longer at night now around 3 hours. Yes i have the same problem with him falling asleep!!

Thanks for your replies ladies i think we will stick with aptamil, and i'll just pray to the baby god that he will sleep 4 hours soon, it will come before i know it hopefully!!

I would also say stick to the Aptamil if he's having no problems
As for worrying about feeding him too much, babies only take what they want and even if they do over indulge, they just throw it up so at this age, dont worry that you're feeding him too much, he's taking what he wants and when he wants it :) Going longer between feeds will come with time :hugs:

my little one feeds the same 3-5oz on demad so can be every 2-6 hours! Mostly she will go 3 hours and shes only a month old! She weighed 9lb born and is now 10lb 5. Sounds quite normal to me, feed your baby when he is hungry it doesnt matter how much or how often in my opinion if your baby needs it then give it :)
